FLIR i7 Thermal IR Imaging Camera

With the introduction of the New FLIR i7 thermal imaging camera, the price threshold has been lowered for an IR infrared camera that meets the higher requirements of building and more demanding predictive maintenance applications. The FLIR i7 thermal camera conforms to the proposed new RESNET standards, offering the lowest cost option for those who need to be RESNET certified!

The FLIR i7 thermal imager is designed to investigate faults in the building fabric and in its operations as well as for checking for electrical and mechanical faults. So, whether the user needs to detect missing insulation, check the efficiency of heating and electrical systems or investigate energy waste, the FLIR i7 is the ideal tool.

The reason why thermal imaging is the best technology for so many fault-finding jobs in the building trade is simple. Heat abnormality, whether too hot or too cold, is a sure-fire way of knowing that a system or a structure isn’t right. A thermal imaging camera visualizes these thermal differences allowing the user to see instantly problems that are invisible to the naked eye.

The need for an affordable infrared camera to perform these important tasks led FLIR to introduce the
FLIR i5 in May 2008. The FLIR i7 IR imager extends the specifications of this compact range to include 120 x 120 pixels resolution with increased field of view and higher thermal sensitivity.

The FLIR i7 digital IR camera is designed for tough on-site use and for that purpose has a double-moulded construction. Weighing just 340g it meets IP43 dust/splashproof standards, has a shock rating of 25G and a vibration rating of 2G. A rechargeable battery allows more than 4 hours of continuous operation.

Images are viewed on the camera’s large, 71mm high-resolution colour LCD and their transfer to a PC is easily accomplished via the microSD card or USB connection. Unlike proprietary image formats, FLIR’s patented radiometric JPEG format allows temperature data to be analysed directly from a common image format using FLIR’s QuickReport™ software that is standard with the camera package.

No complicated export routines need to be followed so that inspection findings can be shared. The radiometric JPEGs and MSWord reports can simply be emailed as attachments.

Other features of the new FLIR i7 are intuitive menu navigation, a thumbnail gallery, and a focus-free lens that makes it even easier for a novice to take advantage of thermal imaging. Three measurement modes are available for extensive analysis – spot (centre), area (minimum/maximum) and isotherm (above/below). Image controls include three palette options – iron, rainbow and black & white.

 If you are a plumber, an electrician, install windows, insulation or HVAC systems, the FLIR  i7 gives you an edge in building diagnostics. The Flir i7 is ideal for detecting hidden problems, assessing damages, surveying for moisture and leaks, identifying energy losses and poor insulation, and finding electrical faults and overheating. The FLIR i7 Thermal Camera is now supplied with a hard transportation case to look after your investment.
