  1. Fujikura 70S Fusion Splicer (Hire Only)

    The Fujikura 70S Fusion Splicer is the ideal instrument for forming efficient, sturdy joints between fibre optic cables. It uses the core alignment fusion splicing method to connect fibres. The actual splicing process takes 9 seconds and another 30 seconds are required to heat a 60mm splice sleeve so the entire process is over in just 39 seconds. The FS60 has several useful additional features such as automatic tube heater operation, user-selectable clamping method (sheath clamp or fibre holder system) and automated monitor image orientation.

    The Fujikura 70S’ rugged construction makes it suitable for onsite use. It is specifically designed to be resistant to water and dust ingress and it is drop-tested to a height of 30”. Software is provided in order to download splice data to a PC for analysis and reporting.

    The Noyes M200 Quad Optical Time Domain Reflectometer is a handheld instrument that can be used to test and verify a variety of fibre optic cables including LAN/WAN, metro and service provider networks. It is ideal for Tier 2 testing and offers quad wavelength functionality with a short dead zone and intermediate range. The single mode tests at 1310nm and 1550nm which is usually enough to certify single mode point-to-point fibre optics and detect any macrobends. The dynamic range varies from 22dB in multimode to 26dB in single mode.

    The M200 can be used in full auto mode, expert (manual) mode and real time OTDR mode and offers precision event analysis and multi-wavelength testing in order to accurately asses the condition of a cable or splice as well as to accurately locate any faults. Results are displayed on the Noyes M200’s transflective touch-screen display which is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The battery lasts for 6 hours and the internal memory has enough space for thousands of SOR industry standard files. A USB port allows data to be transferred via a memory stick.

The DSX5000 certifies copper cabling to the relevant standards including to Level 5 accuracy and therefore forms part of the process of system design and acceptance.

    The Fluke CertiFiber Pro is the ideal tester for inspecting and certifying fibre optic cable connector end faces. It has a three-second autotest function which measures two fibres with two different wavelengths to obtain distance measurements and optical loss budget calculation. The clear screen provides a simple PASS/FAIL indication according to industry standards or custom levels so even novices can use the tester with confidence. This user-friendly nature extends to automatic incorrect test recognition which prevents false negative readings.

    An integrated inspection camera records visible images of the fibre optic end-faces so the user can spot any physical issues. Power meter adaptors are available for a wide range of different connector types including SC, ST, LC and FC. Furthermore, the CertiFiber Pro is capable of performing dual wavelength measurement on a single fibre link. Both end-faces of a fibre optic cable fusion can be verified in under one second using this tester so it is an extremely useful piece of kit.
