The FLIR C3 is an excellent thermal camera for all manner of professionals and is currently available with a choice of two great free gifts! The camera’s impressive thermal capabilities are complimented either by a FLIR MR40 Moisture Pen or by a VP52 Voltage Detector. These additional instruments supplement the C3 by forming an excellent package for detecting moisture or for inspecting electrical systems.

The small size of the FLIR C3 allows it to fit easily into the user’s pocket just like a smartphone but is much tougher and more powerful than any smartphone thermal camera module. It can take fully radiometric thermal images and videos with a different temperature reading from each one of its 4800 pixels. Thermal sensitivity of 100mK means that temperature variations of just 0.1˚C can be shown on screen and readings are accurate to ±2˚C. The FLIR VP52 Voltage Detector is an ideal accompaniment when using these capabilities to investigate electrical circuits. It provides audible and visual indications of voltage presence and thus ensures the user’s safety when following up on the results of a thermal inspection. Two sensitivity modes and a powerful LED worklight mean that the detector is practical for checking for voltage before starting any further work.

With the ability to depict temperature from -10˚C to 150˚C using any one of four colour palettes, the FLIR C3’s 3” touch screen immediately highlights temperature anomalies and also offers simple navigation through its intuitive menus. Focus-free imaging and MSX® image enhancement - possible thanks to the built-in digital camera - give an extremely clear thermal picture and Wi-Fi connectivity allows the user to live stream thermal video to other users.

A further useful feature of the FLIR C3’s image presentation is the automatic hot and cold spot recognition, which is where the FLIR MR40 Moisture Pen comes in. One of the most common causes of lower-than-average surface temperatures in structures is excess moisture, whether this is from faulty plumbing, poor ventilation or a leaky roof. The MR40 Moisture Pen can measure the moisture content of building materials including wood from 5% to 60% via its twin pin electrodes. The MR40 indicates moisture content in the form of a digital readout, analogue display and an audible beeper and it features alarms for when moisture goes above 60%. An integrated torch illuminates the target area so it makes a great tool for supplementing an initial thermal inspection with the FLIR C3. By determining whether a cold spot is due to moisture, the user takes a massive step closer to diagnosing the issue and obtains a better idea of what action to take subsequently.

This offer is only available until 30th September 2017 so make sure you don’t miss out! The FLIR MR40 Moisture Pen is a brilliant additional tool for working with the FLIR C3 as it allows quantitive moisture measurements to be taken in order to back up thermal inspections. The VP52, meanwhile, is ideal for when the user is trying to diagnose problems on electric circuits. Both improve the inspection process and build on the thermal imaging quality of the C3.
