After the success of the industry-endorsed MTL10 and MTL20, Martindale have enhanced their range of test lamps with the new Drummond MTL15 Test Lamp and MTL15PD Kit.

The MTL15 extends the applications for Drummond Test Lamps to higher voltages with a 1000V CAT IV safety rating and LED indication for AC/DC voltages from 50 to 690V. The CAT IV 1000V safety rating makes the MTL15 suitable for supply side applications in all installation categories as defined in BS EN 61010.

This new test lamp is suited to higher voltage applications and has four distinctive bands of LED illumination which provide safe and clear indication on voltages at 50V, 230V, 400V and 690V thresholds.

The key features include:

  • Four illumination bands up to 690V
  • 1000V CAT IV safety rating
  • Right angled & straight GS38 compliant probes
  • High intensity long life LED indication
  • 360° viewing angle

The unique design features of the Drummond test lamps include the high intensity LEDs which provide 360 degree visibility of hazardous voltage levels even in bright sunlight. This easily visible indication ensures accurate identification of potentially lethal supply voltages above 50V and enables the user to easily distinguish source voltages of different supply types.

The MTL15 is supplied with six test probes that are easily interchangeable, ensuring safe and easy measurements in all types of application where access is limited.

The test lamp is suitable for use in many high power applications including wind turbine installations, energy intensive process industries, high power variable speed drives and UPS systems. The Drummond MTL15 Test Lamp is the perfect solution for proving dead and ensuring compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations for implementing safe working practices.

The MTL15 also has many built-in safety features:

  • A finger shield to minimise the risk of accidental contact with a live conductor
  • Insulated probe tips, with only 4mm of exposed metal
  • A two-layer double insulated cable with white inner insulation that gives a clear warning of potentially dangerous abrasion and is highly resistant to heat and oil damage
  • No batteries, no ranges and no switches, which prevents misleading results and ensures reliable indication of hazardous voltages every time
As well as being available to purchase individually, the MTL15 is also available in a kit, the Drummond MTL15PD, that includes a matching PD690 700V AC proving unit and a TC69 combination carry case. The TC69 ensures that your proving unit is always to hand and provides a simple solution for implementing safe isolation practices on-site as required by the Electricity at Work regulations. For further convenience and to save time, the proving unit can be used without having to remove it from the case.
