Castle GA141S dBAir Class 1 Safety Sound Level Meter

The Castle CA141S dBAir Class 1 Sound Level Meter helps the user to meet noise at work regulations and perform other safety-related duties. It can measure sound between 20dB and 140dB over two 95dB linear measurement ranges (20dB to 115dB; 45dB to 140dB). The electret condenser microphone provides Class 1 level accuracy and measurement resolution to 0.1dB. Frequencies can be detected from 10Hz to 20kHz.

The user can choose between A, C, and Z frequency weighting in addition to slow, fast and impulse time weighting. Response times can be adjusted between 10ms and 60mins in fast mode and between 1s and 24h in slow mode, thus allowing truly comprehensive assessment and monitoring. Measurements include Lspl, Leq, Lmax, peak, exposure points, and dose, thus allowing the user to perform risk assessments in accordance with the Noise at Work Act 1989. Octave band analysis can also be selected as an optional extra.

Operations are conducted through the simple push button interface and intuitive menus accessed through the graphical colour display. The large 16GB internal memory has enough room for thousands of readings and the Castle dBAir offers two different methods of downloading results. Firstly, the user can simply connect the meter to a PC via a micro-USB cable or, secondly, the dBAir can send readings wirelessly via the user’s Wi-Fi network. These are then saved to Castle Cloud Storage in a spreadsheet for analysis and reporting.

Despite its advanced measurement and recording features, the Castle dBAir only weighs 480g and is small enough to fit in the user’s pocket. It has a battery life of roughly 16 hours and meets standards including IEC 61672-1:2013, IEC1260-1:2014 and IEC61252:1993 amendment 1.
