Castle SONUS Safety/Environmental Sound System

The Castle SONUS Safety/Environmental Sound System is based around the datalogging Castle SONUS Sound Level Meter and also contains calibrator, attaché case and Castle dBdataPRO noise analysis software.

The Castle SONUS Sound Level Meter can measure sound between 30dB and 140dB across three overlapping 70dB linear ranges. Several different measurement parameters can be assessed including average sound exposure, max sound, peak, personal exposure, percentiles and many more. A simultaneous measurement function allows the user to take two readings at once and the meter is an ideal solution for combining environmental monitoring with Noise at Work assessment requirements. The sound meter is available as a Class 1 instrument or Class 2 instrument depending on the user’s choice of system.

The internal memory of the Castle SONUS allows it to store up to 2100 readings with a choice of fast, slow or impulse response times. Frequency can have A, C, or Z weighting and the user can choose between readings in dB or h2Pa. Results are shown on the Castle SONUS’ one-line digital display and it is easy to select one of three modes using the clear push-button interface. Saved readings can be recalled to the screen or downloaded directly to a PC using a USB cable.

Both versions of the Castle SONUS system - Class 1 and Class 2 - come with a calibrator to help ensure the accuracy of readings taken with the meter. The Castle GA607 Class 1 Sound Level Calibrator produces two tones (94dB and 104dB) in its half-inch microphone cavity whilst the GA601 Class 2 model produces a single 94dB tone. The Class 1 system also includes a GA690 electronic barometer to help adjust for atmospheric pressure variations.

The final main component of the Castle SONUS Safety/Environmental System is the Castle dBdataPRO Noise Analysis Software. This facilitates data download from the meter a PC and then allows the user to view readings in a graphical format in order to map trends and create professional reports. All the components of the kit are supplied in a useful carry case.
