The Chauvin Arnoux CA6160 Electrical Safety and Machinery Tester is the ideal, all-in-one instrument for ensuring that machinery meets a full range of European standards in terms of electrical safety. It can perform several different tests including dielectric testing, voltage drop and continuity testing, insulation resistance measurement, leakage current measurement, discharge timing and functional testing.

Dielectric testing with the Chauvin Arnoux CA6160 can be undertaken using standard or programmed modes and features max. current threshold adjustment, timed or untimed tests, real voltage and current display, and floating HV outputs for increased user safety. Insulation testing meanwhile benefits from three test voltages (250V, 500V or 1000V) and a resistance measurement range of 0.001 to 999MΩ. Both internal and external discharge time can be measured either at the mains socket or at component level.

Continuity and voltage drop testing features adjustable alarms whilst leakage current functions include leakage current measurement (0 to 20mA), residual leakage current measurement (0 to 20mA) and contact current (0 to 2mA). Finally, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6160’s functional test measures active power, apparent power, power factor, voltage, current and frequency to acquire an in-depth picture of electrical safety performance.

An autotest function allows the user to start off an automatic sequence of measurements which will test to see if a machine meets all pertinent standards. The test sequence can be programmed through optional software which also permits downloading readings from the Chauvin Arnoux CA6160’s 1600-measurement internal memory and the creation of test reports. Readings are displayed on the clear, backlit LCD screen and data transfer can be carried out via an RS232 cable.

A sturdy plastic case helps the Chauvin Arnoux CA6160 withstand the rigours of regular use in the field thanks to an IP50 ingress protection rating. It is overvoltage-rated as Cat III 300V and comes supplied with all necessary accessories including two pistol-grip dielectric testers. The manufacturer’s warranty for this tester lasts for 12 months.
