Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power Energy Logger
The Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power Energy Logger is an exceptionally well-built piece of kit designed to be suitable for all types of electrical networks. Automatically recognising the sensors connected, the PEL 104 includes 4 voltage inputs alongside 3 current inputs and crucially, can be operated without having to cut off the mains power supply. This power logger measures and records all the relevant data for energy consumption diagnostics, recording continuously with only a brief interval of 200ms between each measurement. Capable of 5 readings per second and recorded simultaneously on each phase, all data is captured as per the IEEE 1459 standard. Thanks to vast measurement ranges, voltage up 1,000 VAC/VDC and current up to 10 kVAC / 5 kVDC, the PEL 104 can log power values up to 10 GW/GVar/GVA, and energy up to 4 EWh/EVAh/EVarh. This makes the 104 ideal for energy usage analyses, load studies, energy surveys and complying with the energy audit requirements of ISO 50001 and EN 16247-3.
The PEL104 Power Energy Logger performs the following measurements:
RMS and DC measurements with 128 samples/cycle – simultaneously on each phase
AC and/or DC voltages up to 1000 V
Current up to 10 kA AC or 5 kA DC (depending on the current sensor)
Energy values up to 4 EWh / 4 EVAh / 4 EVarh & total energy (4 quadrants)
Phase data: cos φ, tan Φ, power factor (PF)
Crest factor
Harmonics up to the 50th order for currents and voltages
DC, 50 Hz, 60 Hz and 400 Hz measurements
Chauvin Arnoux and the PEL104 are dedicated to improving energy efficiency within sustainable, economical buildings. Indeed optimisation of energy consumption is in fact vital to fulfil the latest regulatory requirements.
With a dedicated Power Energy Logger users can both perform energy efficiency projects and directly supervise electrical distribution systems. For example a correctly positioned PEL104 will swiftly locate areas where maintenance is required and show whether applied solutions are successful. When attached to different electrical feeders these units will size the relative weight of each line in terms of overall consumption, define a load profile for the installation and then prioritise the improvements which must be made.
Advanced Functionality
The measurements made by the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power Energy Logger are via current sensors and voltage inputs. By catching every detail of the electrical consumption in a workshop, factory, agency or building these units can be used simultaneously for real-time oversight, comparative analysis and power allocation. Recordings are all time & date stamped allowing operators to easily compare readings before and after any installation modifications.
Self-powered via its voltage inputs up to 600 V, the PEL 104 Logger avoids battery problems by self-powering directly from the phase by way of the included accessory. Additionally, with a built-in Alarm mode users can define limits, create a list of recorded events and even automatically receive an email alert should a predetermined limit be passed. All results are stored in the equipped SD card which is large enough for several years' worth of data, making the PEL104 ideal for lengthy measurement campaigns.
Compact Magnetised Casing
The PEL104 creates an easy-to-add metering and measuring point in electrical cabinets, even those affected by strong integration constraints. Portable and rugged, the magnetised casing is simple to position and won't impede closing the cabinet. Rated IP54, 1000V CAT III and 600V CAT IV, the backlit LCD screen of this Power Energy Logger features an easy-to-read triple digital display.
Multiple Communication Modes
All Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 models are equipped with multiple communication modes; WiFi, 3G-UMTS/GPRS, LAN (Ethernet), Bluetooth, USB ports and compatibility with Android application. Measurement campaigns can often last far longer than an engineer is expected to stay on-site however it is still important to check the PEL is functioning correctly during operation. The PEL104's measurements can be monitored in real time and the data can be recovered remotely from anywhere in the world.
GPRS and 3G
With the new 3G/GPRS mode, users can access the PEL 104 Power Energy Logger via remote connection through the GSM 3G link. To take advantage of this highly useful GRPS and 3G mobile phone network connection, simply supply the unit with a standard mobile phone SIM card.
IRD Server
Accessing the PEL104 Energy Logger via an IRD server is exceptionally useful. Should an alarm be triggered, the engineer will receive an immediate email. If access to the unit is complicated, perhaps due to the protective systems on today’s IT systems or you're simply far away, the IRD server allows you to view measurements remotely via the internet and without endangering said protective IT systems.
Android App
The FREE multilingual Android App compatible with the PEL104 is a dedicated method of checking functionality and modifying configurations. An incorporated Bluetooth connection enables users to communicate with the device through their smartphone or tablet. Impressively, the App also enables measurements for applications on motors; rotation speed, torque and engine efficiency. There is no longer a need to add specific sensors for this task as a software sensor developed by Chauvin Arnoux is built-in.
PC Software
Equipped with a Wifi interface, access the PEL104 from any PC by means of the PEL Transfer software. The Power-Energy logger can be configured as a Wifi access point operating on the 2.4 GHz radio frequency band.
The PEL Transfer software analyses the data recorded and directly calculates the cost of the power consumed, displaying the result in the selected currency.
This application software also lets you:
Configure the PEL104
Check the connections before starting to record
Download the measurements recorded in the PEL104
View the various measurement results and analyses
The DataView processing software is built to provide users with a method of creating certified or customised reports. Generate energy consumption reports easily thanks to this software interacting directly with user-set alarm thresholds.
Optional accessories: (add as required above)
Set of 3 x MA194-350 Clamps - Required for measuring AC current consumption and for any power calculations that combine current and voltage recordings Magnetised Voltage Probes (P01103058Z) - Makes voltage measurements easier and more practical where access to a conductor is limited. Often used RCDs or Circuit Breakers Reeling boxes - Keeps your test leads for voltage measurements tidy and organised
