ETI Thermapen® IR Infrared and Penetration Thermometer

The ETI Thermapen® IR Infrared and Penetration Thermometer is capable of both contact and non-contact temperature measurement. It is therefore suitable for a wide range of applications in the food processing and catering industries.

The infrared surface temperature measurement range goes from -49.9˚C to 349.9˚C with best accuracy of ±1˚C and a best resolution of 0.1˚C. The 5:1 distance-to-spot ratio means that the thermometer should be positioned as close to the target surface as possible whilst emissivity is set to 0.95 as default but can be adjusted between 0.1 and 1. Min/max recording is available in IR mode and it is possible to switch to infrared by folding in the penetration probe.

For contact temperature measurement, the ETI Thermapen IR has a ø3.3mm x 110mm stainless steel penetration probe that folds 180˚ back into the thermometer. It is ideal for measuring liquid temperatures or the core temperature of semi-solid foods and has a measurement range of -49.9˚C to 299.9˚C with accuracy of ±0.4˚C and resolution of 0.1˚C. Responses are given in less than three seconds.

The ETI Thermapen IR has a clear digital display with 360˚ rotation so the temperature value is always easy to read. Operation is conducted simply by folding or unfolding the probe and using the mode button and, in probe mode, the thermometer has a motion sensing which allows it to ‘wake up’ when it is picked up, thus saving the battery. The casing has Biomaster silver additive to fight bacterial growth and batteries last for roughly 1000 hours. The instrument is HACCP compatible and is covered by a two-year warranty.
