Extech HDV640W Wireless Borescope

The Extech HDV640W Wireless Borescope is a useful video instrument that can give the user a view into awkward and enclosed spaces. The wireless remote handset has a 6mm diameter camera on a semi rigid 1m cable so it can fit into difficult spaces such as wall cavities, plant machinery and pipework. The handset transmits video and images to an Extech HDV600 Monitor Unit where they can be displayed on the colour HD screen.

Images and videos are actually captured by a 6mm camera probe which is fixed at the end of a semi-rigid 1m cable. The camera has a macro lens, four inbuilt LED torches, and a 65˚ field of view which enable focus on nearby objects (20mm to 60mm). The camera head can also remotely rotate through 240˚ by using the control unit, which is easy to operate with gloved hands. This remote movement allows the user to view a wide field within a target environment.

Images and video are projected wirelessly back to the Extech HDV600 Monitor Unit over a distance of up to 10m. The display unit has a 5.7” colour screen which can show pictures and videos in high definition thanks to a 640 x 480 pixel resolution. Illumination from the screen ensures that glare is not a problem whilst still staying visible in bright sunlight and poorly lit conditions.

A 2GB SD card is supplied with the Extech HDV640W. This can store up to 14,600 readings or four hours of video with attached voice annotations. The card is easy to remove and insert into a PC whilst an AV video output allows real time video to be shown on a larger monitor.

The IP57 camera probe and IP67 monitor unit ensure that the Extech HDV640W package is completely waterproof. The monitor unit can also withstand a drop from a height of up to 2m. The button operation on the monitor unit can be used both right- and left-handed. The monitor unit is covered by a two-year warranty and the Extech HDV640W constitutes an excellent option for a wide array of different inspection and diagnosis applications.
