Teledyne FLIR AX8 Thermal Monitoring Camera

The Teledyne FLIR AX8 Thermal Monitoring Camera is a useful monitoring device that can be installed in electrical cabinets, manufacturing plants, and any other environment where temperature monitoring can help detect the early warning signs of subsequent problems.

The FLIR AX8 has an 80 x 60 pixel thermal sensor that is capable of measuring temperature from -10˚C to 150˚C. It has thermal sensitivity of just 100mK meaning that temperature variations of as little as 0.1˚C can be shown on screen and readings are accurate to ±2˚C. The field of view is 46˚ x 37˚ so the camera can monitor large areas at once.

In addition to raw thermal imaging data, the FLIR AX8 has a regular digital camera with a 640 x 480 pixel resolution. This allows the user to view real images from the camera and can also be used to add real detail to the thermal image using FLIR MSX technology.

One of the outstanding features of the FLIR AX8 is its compact, robust design. It has dimensions of just 54mm x 25mm x 95mm which allows it to sit discretely in position. The IP67 protection rating, meanwhile, certifies that the thermal camera is waterproof and therefore suitable for applications in the marine sector and other challenging environments.

The FLIR AX8 connects easily to existing networks including Ethernet IP and Modbus TCP from where the user can set up to 6 measurement areas with alarms. It is also possible to view and analyse images in real time but thermographs and photographs can also be stored on the camera’s internal memory.
