    FLIR E75 in use

The FLIR E75 Thermal Imaging Camerais a highly sophisticated thermal camera that helps the user locate abnormalities in buildings, electrical circuits and machinery and then document any issues quickly and easily. The 320 x 240 pixel thermal sensor measures surface temperature from -20˚C to 650˚C (±2˚C accuracy) with a thermal sensitivity of 30mK which means that differences of just 0.03˚C are shown on the 4” touch screen. Such impressive measurement capabilities allow the E75 camera to detect differences in both surface and air temperature, thus revealing hidden air and moisture leaks. The capacity to take both still images and videos helps diagnosis and troubleshooting.

A range of colour palettes are available and MSX® adds perspective to images using the device’s in-built 5.0 megapixel digital camera as well as providing edge detail on windows and doors. The user therefore benefits from a very clear image. With a maximum field of view of 42˚, the FLIR E75 can provide an instant temperature overview of a large area although 24˚ and 14˚ lenses are available so it can also be used for more in-depth inspections of smaller target areas. An exact temperature reading is provided alongside the thermal image on screen and various alarms can be set to immediately indicate anomalies or problems.

    FLIR E75 IR image

The FLIR E75 is very easy to use as it is light, ergonomic and has a 2.5-hour battery life. Automatic focus through laser guidance simplifies operation whilst manual focus provides flexibility for finer adjustments. A supplied 8GB micro-SD card has room for thousands of images and videos and the excellent build quality - including the tough Dragontail cover glass - allows it to withstand the knocks of regular field use.

Recording problems is made very easy by the FLIR E75 as it can communicate via wi-fi to mobile devices and even connects to FLIR moisture meters through METERLINK®. Once images are downloaded, they can be enhanced using UltraMax and added to reports using FLIR Tools+ software to simplify audits and insurance claims, for example. Voice annotations can be added to files on the FLIR E75 so that real time observations are seamlessly captured and noted without having to pause filming.

Overall, the FLIR E75 provides excellent troubleshooting capabilities for air and moisture leaks in buildings via downloadable still and moving thermal images. It is supplied with all necessary accessories including an SD card, batteries and a Torx screwdriver.

Thermal Imaging for Detecting Elevated Body Temperature

This camera includes an EBT screening mode.

While unable to detect a virus or infection, thermal imaging cameras can be used to detect Elevated Body Temperature. FLIR thermal cameras have been used in public spaces—such as airports, train terminals, businesses, factories, and concerts—as an effective tool to measure skin surface temperature and identify individuals with Elevated Body Temperature (EBT).

If the temperature of the skin in key areas (especially the corner of the eye and forehead) is above average temperature, then the individual may be selected for additional screening. Identifying individuals with EBT, who should then be further screened with virus-specific diagnostic tests, can help reduce or dramatically slow the spread of viruses and infections.

Using thermal cameras, officials can be more discrete, efficient, and effective in identifying individuals that need further screening with virus-specific tests. A variety of institutions, including transportation agencies, businesses, factories, and first responders are using thermal screening as an EBT detection method and as part of employee health and screening (EH&S).

Airports in particular are actively employing FLIR thermal cameras as part of their screening measures for passengers and flight crews. The screening procedures implemented at airports and in other public places are just the first step when it comes to detecting a possible infection: it’s a quick way to screen for anyone who might be sick, and must always be followed up with further screening before authorities decide to quarantine a person.

For more information regarding EBT screening, please view this pdf.
