FLIR E86 Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera

The FLIR E86 Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera is the second most powerful camera in the impressive FLIR Exx-Series. Handheld yet loaded with high-performance features, it easily and accurately detects hot spots and hidden deficiencies invisible to the naked eye. With an expanded temperature measurement range of up to 1500˚C and a 464 × 348 pixel thermal camera, the E86 provides vibrant imagery to aid in diagnosing manufacturing issues & preventing equipment failures. Featuring a thermal sensitivity/NETD of <30mK at 30˚C (86˚F) discover insulation voids, roof leaks, HVAC deficiencies and more with this FLIR IR camera. Avoid unnecessary time searching for the problem with a series of interchangeable AutoCal™ lenses featuring a telephoto, standard, and wide-angle field of view. Inspect electrical systems safely, survey large targets quickly & efficiently check electrical or mechanical assets for signs of failure.

Boasting 6 colour palettes, 3 spotmeters, a FLIR-Screen EST mode and on-screen area measurement information (m² or ft²) the FLIR E86 is a rugged all-in-one device. Find, fix and document issues rapidly with the Ultramax mode, 3 area measurement boxes and focus modes such as continuous LDM, one-shot LDM, one-shot contrast and manual. For precise autofocusing a laser distance meter is included and for improving image contrast utilise the incorporated FLIR 1-Touch Level/Span function. Other features include a live Max/Min temperature display, Picture-in-Picture mode, a 5MP digital camera with incorporated LED Photo/Video lamp and 1-4x digital zoom. The E86 can automatically add GPS tags to images whilst voice annotations are added via either the built-in mic or Bluetooth connection.

Together with a USB 2.0 port and DisplayPort the E86 Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera has a useful built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. METERLiNK enabled for compatibility with other applicable FLIR devices, this instrument possesses a 640 x 480 pixel 4" LCD touchscreen display with auto-rotation included. Complete with a sturdy carry case the E86 is supplied with a removable SD memory card and cable set: USB 2.0 A to USB Type-C, USB Type-C to HDMI and USB Type-C to USB Type-C. Storage modes include Visual, MSX®, Picture-in-Picture, Gallery & an Infrared mode where JPEG files with all of the measurement data attached can be saved.

FLIR Thermal Studio & FLIR Inspection Route

The FLIR Exx-Series including the E86 all come equipped with the exclusive FLIR Inspection Route feature automatically enabled within the device. This software guides an operator along a pre-approved route, through numerous locations, organising inspection data with relevant images on the fly. Beginning in FLIR Thermal Studio (with the Route Creator Plugin installed), a route is created and then exported to the FLIR E86 camera for rapid inspections, streamlined post-processing and swift reporting.

Designed to assist in managing thousands of images and videos this state-of-the-art analysis & reporting software is designed for use with the Exx-Series. Offered in three versions - Starter, Standard, and Pro - the FLIR Thermal Studio Suite is fully compatible with all cameras which generate images in radiometric JPG format. Build a route which maximises efficiency, including as many inspection targets as needed within the FLIR Thermal Studio with a plugin installed.

Thermographers can download their user-created routes to the FLIR E86 camera and follow these guides to efficiently inspect large facilities over a day. Collect data in these pre-defined routes, this structured manner aids in seamlessly organising & importing relevant information back to the FLIR software for analysis. Use this software for optimum organisation and maximum efficiency, the FLIR Route Creator is ideal for batch processing ensuring no time is wasted during inspections.

FLIR AutoCal™ Interchangeable Lenses

Capable of automatically recognising a new lens, the FLIR E76, E86, and E96 cameras are compatible with all FLIR interchangeable AutoCal lenses. No need to send the camera for servicing as once a new lens has been installed the device will run an auto-calibration program. There are several different lens options available:

  • 14°, 29mm Telephoto lens: Includes a narrow field of view for precise focus & crisp imaging of distant targets.
  • 24°, 17mm Standard lens: Featuring a 24° × 18° field of view which allows users to remain a safe distance from potentially hazardous equipment while still capturing sharp details on smaller targets.
  • 42°, 10mm Wide-Angle lens: With the largest field of view for imaging buildings, roofs, or other areas where gathering the most information in a single image is crucial.

The FLIR E86 is available in seven different models as detailed in the table below, choose the right option for you from the drop down menu.

FLIR MSX Technology

For crisp, vibrant imagery the FLIR E86 Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera features FLIR's patented Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX) feature. Available exclusively with FLIR products, the MSX option incorporates visual detail and embosses it directly over the full thermal image for vastly enhanced detail and perspective. With this feature enabled format components becomes clear enough that even a label is readable within the captured thermal image. This provides a clear advantage when attempting to identify the issue and context of a thermal problem.
