FLIR T540 Professional Thermal Imaging Camera
The FLIR T540 Professional Thermal Imaging Camera is designed for thermographers and IR service consultants working in power generation, electrical distribution or manufacturing. The thermal sensor had a resolution of 464 x 348 pixels, a temperature range of -20˚C to 1500˚C and thermal sensitivity of 30mK (±0.03˚C) thus allowing extremely clear thermal images and video over a very wide range.
To aid the user when inspecting awkward or hard-to-reach places, the FLIR T540 has an auto-rotating optical block which can be viewed from 180˚. The 4” colour touch screen is extremely bright and ideal for both viewing and operating the camera, especially with its wide range of colour palettes. Meanwhile, laser distance measurement determines the accessibility of faulty components and displays the distance on screen and the camera can also perform remote area measurement which helps assess the severity of temperature-related problems. Time-lapse imaging over 24 hours constitutes another useful feature for inspections as it allows the user to see intermittent faults.
Digital zoom (1-6x) allows the user to focus on problem areas and imaging is artificially aided by MSX® image enhancement which uses details from the integrated digital camera with the thermal image. Laser-assisted autofocus guarantees clarity in images and other useful functions include spot measurement, hot/cold spots and picture-in-picture imaging.
In addition to direct temperature readouts and distance/area measurements, the FLIR T540 also features METERLiNK® via Bluetooth so quantitive data from compatible FLIR meters can be shown on screen. Image and radiometric video files with accompanying quantitive data can be saved to the camera’s 8GB SD card with a GPS and time-and-date stamp. Download to a smart device is possible through USB, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and the latter even allows live video streaming via FLIR Thermal Studio Suite software. Intuitive operation via menus and the touch screen means that the camera is easy to use even in difficult environments. Files can be sorted into customisable folders for ease of use.
Interchangeable AutoCal lenses on the FLIR T540 can be employed across the user’s thermal camera collection, thus saving money and adding practicality. The camera comes with a 24˚ or 42˚ lens or a combination of one or both of these lenses plus a 14˚ lens. Supplied accessories include several data transfer cables, an 8GB SD card and a transport case and the camera and accessories are covered by FLIR’s comprehensive 2-10 year warranty for the instrument and the sensor.
FlexView Dual FOV 14 - 24˚ Lens
The FlexView Dual FOV 14 - 24˚ Lens is a single lens that offers both 14˚ and 24˚ FOVs, replacing the need to change between two physical camera lenses to achieve each FOV. The FlexiView lens allows for FOV switching with the push of a button and a 1-second FOV toggle time, providing an efficient inspection experience and reducing the physical load for those in the field. This innovative lens retains the sleek design of other FLIR lenses, with an increased length of just 6mm. Performance in both FOVs is retained, offering full radiometric performance and image quality.
Thermal Imaging for Detecting Elevated Body Temperature
This camera includes an EBT screening mode.
While unable to detect a virus or infection, thermal imaging cameras can be used to detect Elevated Body Temperature. FLIR thermal cameras have been used in public spaces—such as airports, train terminals, businesses, factories, and concerts—as an effective tool to measure skin surface temperature and identify individuals with Elevated Body Temperature (EBT).
If the temperature of the skin in key areas (especially the corner of the eye and forehead) is above average temperature, then the individual may be selected for additional screening. Identifying individuals with EBT, who should then be further screened with virus-specific diagnostic tests, can help reduce or dramatically slow the spread of viruses and infections.
Using thermal cameras, officials can be more discrete, efficient, and effective in identifying individuals who need further screening with virus-specific tests. A variety of institutions, including transportation agencies, businesses, factories, and first responders are using thermal screening as an EBT detection method and as part of employee health and screening (EH&S).
Airports in particular are actively employing FLIR thermal cameras as part of their screening measures for passengers and flight crews. The screening procedures implemented at airports and in other public places are just the first step when it comes to detecting a possible infection: it’s a quick way to screen for anyone who might be sick, and must always be followed up with further screening before authorities decide to quarantine a person.
