Fluke 1587 FC Insulation Tester / DMM Multimeter

The Fluke 1587 FC is an innovative amalgamation of an accurate digital insulation tester and a versatile, handheld, digital multimeter. Insulation resistance can be measured between 0.01MΩ and 2GΩ thanks to the 1587 FC’s ample choice of test voltages (50 to 1000V). As far as multimeter functions are concerned, the instrument gives the user options for AC/DC voltage measurement, AC/DC current, resistance measurement, diode test, continuity test, frequency measurement, capacitance and temperature.

Measurements are taken to a high degree of accuracy over large ranges whilst range and resolution options add versatility and precision. True RMS measurement aids accuracy for both AC current and AC voltage and the Fluke 1587 FC also has a VFD low-pass filter for accurate motor drive measurements.

Further sophisticated features build on the Fluke 1587 FC’s measurement options. Most prominently, the device boasts connection with the Fluke Connect App, which allows the user to see readings on his/her smartphone. The App allows PI/DAR timed ratio tests - which make use of TrendIt graphs - to quickly detect problems related to moisture and contaminated insulation. Temperature compensation is provided through the App whilst readings can also be digitally uploaded to a shared database and there is an option to historically track trends in assets.

Safety is also an important aspect of the Fluke 1587 FC. A voltage detector prevents insulation testing if voltages over 30V are detected and there is an auto-discharge of capacitive voltage to keep the user safe. The instrument is rated Cat IV to 600V and Cat III to 1000V. Results are displayed on the clear, backlit LCD screen as well as on the user’s smartphone whilst the device is also portable and sturdy.

The Fluke 1587 FC comes supplied with all the necessary accessories for insulation testing and electrical troubleshooting including a remote probe, test leads, crocodile clips, a Type-K thermocouple, a hard case, and instruction documents.
