Megger AVO830 in use

The Megger AVO830 Cat IV 600V Digital Multimeter is capable of measuring electrical parameters including AC/DC voltage up to 600V, AC/DC current up to 10A, resistance up to 50MΩ, conductance up to 60nS, and capacitance up to 20mF. All parameters have extremely accurate measurement (0.1% basic accuracy) and automatic and manual ranging ensure the best possible resolution.

In addition to continuity and diode testing, the Megger AVO830 has a unique 10MΩ and 10kΩ switching function for quickly detecting unintentionally coupled ghost voltages. Non-contact voltage detection helps prevent any work on live circuits by warning the user with audible and visual signals. An 800Hz filter prevents interference from high-frequency noise on variable speed drives.

Two-Handed Phase Sequence Test

One of the standout features of the Megger AVO830 is its two-handed phase sequence test for three-phase sequences. With phase sequence extremely important - think of the consequences if motors run backwards - many devices offer sequence checking but these are always with three connections (one for each phase) but this is extremely tricky as operatives only have two hands. This AVO830 features two-wire phase testing where the red lead is connected to Phase 1 and the black lead to Phase 2. The red lead is then transferred to Phase 3 and the multimeter will instantly indicate whether the sequence is 1-2-3 or 3-2-1!

User-friendly Operation

Readings are displayed on the Megger AVO830’s clear digital screen and there is an analogue arc that shows readings dynamically. The multimeter offers display hold, auto hold min/max/average recording, and a smoothing function that produces a stable reading when there is a lot of interference or fluctuations.

The measurement function is selected using the Megger AVO830’s simple dial and several push buttons give access to further features. It has a compact, ergonomic design and is rated as Cat IV 600V, which makes it suitable for use on the supply side of installations. It is ideal for professional electricians, technicians, service personnel and engineers thanks to an IP54 environmental protection rating.

The Megger AVO830 comes supplied with a range of accessories including test leads and batteries. It is covered by a one-year warranty (extendable to three years when registered for free on the Megger website).
