The Megger Baker MTR105 Rotating Machine Tester is designed to test multiple aspects of static motors. The large range of test and measurement facilities make the motor tester suitable for production tests on new motors and generators, testing of refurbished or repaired motors and generators, or in-field testing of operational motors or generators. This has applications in multiple industries including the utility sector, manufacturing, HVAC, motor maintenance/repair, and transport.

Advanced Motor Testing

Various advanced tests are available on the Megger Baker MTR105 Motor Tester. They include insulation resistance measurement from 100Ω to 200GΩ with polarisation index, dielectric absorption ratio, and temperature compensation. Test voltages of 50V, 100V, 250V, 500V and 1000V are available. Notably, there is also a bi-directional DLRO four-wire Kelvin low resistance test function for resistance measurement up to 10Ω with a resolution of 0.01mΩ and accuracy of ±0.25% ± 10 digits.

Other measurement capabilities on the Megger Baker MTR105 include bi-directional continuity testing (20mA or 200mA test current), capacitance (0.1nF to 1mF), three-phase AC/DC voltage measurement up to 1000V, phase rotation indication, motor rotation test, and inductance measurement (2mH to 1H). There is also a temperature measurement function via a type T thermocouple with a range of -20˚C to 200˚C (up to 1000˚C with type J or K thermocouple) that facilitates temperature compensation.

Designed for Practicality

The Megger MTR105 is operated via a simple rotary dial and push-button interface to select and tailor the test. Readings are displayed on the vibrant colour screen that is capable of both graphical and numerical depictions. The motor tester has internal memory for up to 256 result sets with a time and date stamp and these can be downloaded to a PC via the USB connection.

The Megger MTR105 has enough battery life to perform a full suite of tests on up to ten motors, or 1200 insulation or continuity tests. The tester’s protective design gives it an IP54 ingress protection rating and the guard terminal prevents surface leakage current. The over-moulded rubber case and ABS housing make it both comfortable and sturdy. Safety is paramount with live circuit detection that prevents unsafe testing and user-adjustable lockout voltage.

The tester comes supplied with a hook strap, soft carry pouch, type T thermocouple, insulation resistance lead set, and Cat III 600V Kelvin lead set.
