Megger Torkel 950 Battery Load Unit

For a limited time only, buy a Megger Torkel 950 Battery Load Unit and receive a FREE Megger TC3231 Thermal Imaging Camera. Offer available until the 30th of November 2020.

The Megger Torkel 950 Battery Load Unit enables users to perform load and discharge testing on batteries of up to 500V with a maximum discharge current of 220A. This additional capacity makes it suitable for batteries in essential infrastructure such as telecommunications masts and it is even possible to daisy-chain Torkel or TXL Load Units to increase capacity. The unit can test batteries without disconnecting them from the mains and allows testing at constant current, constant power or constant resistance - or in a pre-set load profile - for fully comprehensive testing.

Batteries can be positively or negatively grounded or free floating and the Megger Torkel 950 is capable of measuring battery current via an optional DC clamp probe. Accuracy is enhanced by inputs for separate sensing cables which negate the effects of voltage drop caused by long cables or high current.

To test a battery, the user should start the discharge after connecting the Megger Torkel 950 to the battery and setting the voltage alarms to the correct level. With the current kept at a constant level, the alarm will sound once voltage drops to just above final voltage. If voltage drop poses a risk of deep discharge, the Torkel will automatically close off the test.

Readings are shown on the Megger Torkel 950’s 7” colour touch screen and they are also saved to the internal memory. Once downloaded via the USB port, data can be collated and analysed using Torkel Viewer software which is supplied as standard. The USB port allows data transfer using the supplied USB memory stick as well as communication with a BVM cell voltage logger. When used in combination with a BVM unit, the Torkel 950 can act as a standalone discharge test system.

The Megger Torkel 950 comes supplied with a mains cable, a standard transport case, a cable test set (2 x 3m, 70mm2), a soft case for the cables, Torkel Viewer software and a USB memory stick. It meets standards including IEC61010-1:2010, IEC61010-2-030, and IEC61326-1. It is also possible to upgrade to a large carry case which allows the user to store all the cables together with the load unit. Additional optional extras include DC current clamps with ranges of up to 200A or 1000A.
