Metrel A1532 Electric Vehicle Charging Station Adaptor

The Metrel A1532 Electric Vehicle Charging Station Adaptor allows the user to carry out functional and safety tests on an electrical vehicle (EVSE) charging point under live conditions without having to disassemble the charging point to access the terminals. It is suitable for Mode 3 EV supply equipment with type 2 connectors.

The Metrel A1532 works with any Metrel multifunction tester (single- and three-phase) although some specific instruments - for example the Metrel MI3152 Eurotest XC - have dedicated functionality and test routines to complement the adaptor. This includes an automatic sequence which will test safety and functionality on a state-by-state basis at the push of a button.

The adaptor effectively simulates a vehicle connected to the charging point with selectable options for different charge outputs: disconnected, charge ready, charging, and pilot error. This includes vehicles with or without cooled/ventilated power requirements and proximity pilot simulation can be adjusted to a range of different currents. It is also possible to test progressive RCDs (30mA AC and 6mA DC) as well as type B RCDs.

All testing with the Metrel A1532 can be carried out without having to open up the charging point in order to access internal terminals. Furthermore the adaptor has a BNC connector that is directly connected to the Control Pilot, allowing analysis of station signals for different charging states. It is also possible to perform a full test of the associated connecting cables, plugs and sockets under live conditions.
