Seaward PV200 Solar PV Tester and I-V Curve Tracer

The Seaward PV200 Solar PV Tester and I-V Curve Tracer (389A910) is a highly efficient, all-in-one instrument suitable for testing and diagnosing problems within a solar photovoltaic electrical installation. Not only able to conduct all of the installation tests detailed in BS EN 62446, the Seaward PV200 will also quickly measure I-V (current/voltage) curves in accordance with IEC 61829, suitable for regular PV maintenance and ongoing PV efficiency testing.

Supplied with positive and negative MC4 test leads, the Seaward Solar PV200 photovoltaic tester will easily connect to both single PV modules, or strings with multiple PV modules. Individual tests can be conducted manually for trouble-shooting applications, although the PV200 features an ‘auto’ mode that performs multiple tests at the push of a button allowing for straightforward, rapid verification of the DC side of a solar PV installation.

Measurements are presented on a high contrast screen, clearly visible in direct sunlight that displays the following test parameters:

  • Open circuit voltage
  • Short circuit current
  • Maximum power point voltage (Pmpp)
  • Current and Power
  • Fill factor of the PV system/module under test
  • Insulation resistance value

Should the measured I-V curve profile deviate from that expected of the system under test, the PV200 will alert the user in order for further analysis to be undertaken.

Full detail, colour I-V curves can be viewed instantly once test data is wirelessly (NFC connectivity) transferred from the PV200 to an Android mobile device running Seaward’s FREE PVMobile Android App. The displayed I-V and power curves can be used to identify and solve common problems including solar cell shading, high resistance connections and defective cells.

Test results recorded using the instrument can be stored on an internal memory capable of logging up to 999 sets of PV test/diagnostic data for large volume, continuous testing. Measurements can also be downloaded from the PV200 in .CSV file format for maximum traceability. To add further capabilities to your purchase, you may wish to consider a Seaward PV200 Solarlink Test Kit.
