Seaward Solar Utility Pro 1500V 40A PV String Checker

The Seaward Solar Utility Pro 1500V 40A PV String Checker is a powerful instrument that is capable of testing parallel wire strings up to 1500V / 40A. This means there is no need to separate the different wire strings, a time-consuming task often required when using other instruments with lower limits. The checker is therefore suitable for modern PV installations.

The Seaward Solar Utility Pro can measure open circuit voltage between 5V DC and 1500V DC with a precision of 0.1V and accuracy of ±(0.5% + 2 digits). It also has a short circuit current measurement range of 0.5A DC to 40A with accuracy of ±(1% + 2 digits) and a resolution of 0.01A. When used in conjunction with the supplied Seaward Solar Survey 200R Irradiance Meter, the checker can also record irradiance, module, and ambient temperature readings.

Readings are displayed on the Seaward Solar Utility Pro’s clear digital display and it can save up to 999 string test result sets in its onboard memory. These can then be downloaded as a CSV file via an integrated USB port. Operating the checker is very easy as tests are initiated using a single test button on the simple push-button interface.

The Seaward Solar Utility Pro has direct MC4 connections that can be converted with the two supplied 1.2m conversion leads. These leads convert a standard MC4 connection to a crocodile clip or test probe, which is particularly useful for safety in combiner boxes and junction boxes. There are also a pair of 2m red and black MC4 extension leads, irradiance meter clamp, a hold all case, and a battery charger.

A sturdy outer shell makes the Seaward Solar Utility Pro well suited to use in the field as it can withstand impacts and has an IP64 ingress protection rating. It weighs just 4.7kg and has an integrated handle.
