    Testo 865 Thermal Imaging Camera

The Testo 865 Thermal Imaging Camera is an ideal entry-level thermal camera because of its combination of point-and-click simplicity, high-performance thermography and thermal video. The 160 x 120 pixel thermal sensor measures temperature from -20˚C to 280˚C through non-contact infrared detection and has thermal sensitivity of 120mK so differences of just 0.12˚C are visible on screen. These thermographic capabilities make the camera suitable for detecting leaks, overheating components, thermal bridges and structural defects whilst the wide field of view (31˚ x 23˚) allows speedy inspections across buildings and production plants. The emissivity level can be set manually from 0.01 to 1 in order to compensate for absorbent or reflective surfaces.

Thermal images are displayed on the Testo 865’s vibrant colour screen which has a choice of four colour palettes and automatic cold/hot spot recognition. A large 2.8GB internal memory can store thousands of images and these can be transferred to a PC via the supplied USB cable. With an IP54 ingress protection rating, the Testo 865 is unsuitable for use outdoors and is well-built in order to withstand the rigours of daily use. The four-hour life on the rechargeable battery is another useful feature when it comes to practical use. The camera is supplied with a USB cable, charging unit, calibration protocol and case as well as a two-year warranty.

    Testo SuperResolution Thermal Imaging Software

All Testo thermal imaging cameras, such as the 865, now come with Testo SuperResolution Thermal Imaging Software as standard, fully optimising the potential of each thermal image captured. Optimum thermography is a simple equation; an increase in pixels and image resolution will result in a clearer and more detailed display of the object in question. This advanced software package improves all thermal pictures taken thanks to an internal algorithm which takes into account sequential images, adds four times the amount of pixels and improves the geometric resolution of each by a factor of 1.6. It also negates the effects of an unsteady hand from the operator, instead combining images into one high-res picture. The camera calculates the mean point and upgrades the resolution to 320 x 240 pixels, ultimately producing a highly detailed, and highly useful thermal image.

    Testo ScaleAssist

Take advantage of the incredible Testo ScaleAssist included with the 865 and correctly evaluate construction errors and thermal bridges like never before. Automatic ScaleAssist sets an appropriate colour-to-temperature scale, filtering out undesired extreme temperatures and realistically presenting building faults. A significant tool as it allows the comparison of before and after infrared images regardless of any altered ambient conditions.

    Geometric Resolution - IFOV

The field of view of the 865's camera is determined by the lens, within this field an IFOV warner can be calculated. An IFOV warner is the distance to the measurement object, i.e. the measurement spot size, which is determined and then shown in the thermal image. This is the smallest recognisable object which the camera can detect. This is immensely beneficial to the accuracy of the device, as it allows the user to avoid measurement errors as the imager shows you exactly which pixels your are measuring. A poor IFOV can give misleading information as it takes temperature from a larger section of pixels, whereas the 865 not only boasts an IFOV rating of 3.4 mrad, it can be improved further by the super resolution feature (x 1.6).

    Pro Software for PC

Included with the 865 thermal imaging camera, IRSoft is high-performance PC software for professional thermography analysis. Intuitive, clear and exceptionally user friendly, IRSoft provides the tools to comprehensively analyse captured thermograms. A comprehensive suite of features, each with their own explanation accessed by a simple hover of the mouse.
