    Testo 868 Thermal Imaging Camera

The Testo 868 Thermal Imaging Camera has several useful features which help the user make the most of its impressive thermographic capabilities. The non-contact infrared thermal sensor has a resolution of 160 x 120 pixels and measures temperature from -30˚C to 650˚C over two separate ranges. Thermal sensitivity is just 100mK meaning that temperature differences as small as 0.1˚C can be visualised on screen. The fixed-focus 31˚ x 23˚ field of view allows the user to make quick inspections over a large area while hot and cold spot recognition also highlights the extremes present on screen.

Images and video are shown on the Testo 868’s colour screen which has a range of four palettes. A digital camera is integrated into the Testo 868 so it can save visible images alongside their thermographic counterparts, thus permitting easier analysis of heat maps. Images and video can be saved to the camera’s large (2.8GB) internal memory and then transferred to a PC via a USB cable or to a smart device with the Testo Thermography App via WLAN wireless connectivity.

The Testo 868 is built with practicality in mind and is sturdy enough to withstand the bumps and scrapes of everyday use. It has an IP54 ingress-protection rating and a four-hour battery life so it is suitable for outdoor use. Several accessories are provided as standard including a USB cable, a battery charger, software, ε-markers, a calibration certificate and a case. Testo also provide a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

    Test 868 In Use 1

    Testo SuperResolution Thermal Imaging Software

Thermal imaging cameras from Testo, such as the 868, are now supplied with SuperResolution Thermal Imaging Software as standard, fully optimising the potential of each image captured. At its most basic, optimum thermography can be explained like so; an increase in pixels, in combination with image resolution, will result in a more detailed display of the object in question. This incredible software package improves all thermal pictures taken by utilising an internal algorithm, taking into account sequential images, adding four times the amount of pixels and improving the geometric resolution of each by a noticeable factor of 1.6. A further benefit is that the software actually negates the effects of an unsteady operator hand, instead combining images into one high-res picture. The camera calculates the mean point, upgrades the resolution to 320 x 240 pixels and ultimately produces a very detailed, and very useful thermal image.

    Testo ScaleAssist & ε-Assist

The ScaleAssist function of the Testo 868 automatically selects a colour scale in order to properly highlight temperature differences across the image. Filter out undesired extreme temperatures and realistically present building faults, correctly evaluating construction errors and thermal bridges like never before. The imager is fully capable of comparing before and after images, in spite of any fluctuating ambient conditions.

For precise thermal images, the 868 features ε-Assist which automatically sets emissivity adjustment in order to maintain accuracy. This has often been a time consuming and easy-to-fail task which can unfortunately skew taken results. However, thanks to the reference stickers and integrated thermal camera included with the 868, this is no longer the case. Calculate emissivity and reflected temperature (RTC) easily, efficiently and most importantly reliably.

    Geometric Resolution - IFOV

With the IFOV warner of the Testo 868 measuring the distance to the object in question, a measurement spot size can be determined and shown within the thermal image. With this information it is possible to work out what is the smallest object capable of being detected. Avoid measurement errors by utilising the included IFOV and recognising exactly which pixels are being measured. The 868 has a IFOV rating of 3.4 mrad, which can be improved by implementing the Testo super resolution function (x 1.6).

    Thermography App

Compatible with the 868 and free for both Google Play & App Store, the Testo Thermography App produces compact reports which can be quickly made, saved and sent via email. Furthermore, the App offers tools for initial on-site analysis such as adding comments to images, inserting additional measurements points and determining temperature development via a line. You can even use your smartphone or tablet as a second display or remote control.

    Pro Software for PC

The IRSoft high performance PC software included with the Test 868 is ideal for professional thermography analysis. With its exceedingly user friendly and intuitive controls, the software is a tool capable of comprehensive thermogram analysis.
