Tramex have compiled a renowned range of hugely impressive moisture meter kits, each designed to make flooring installation or inspection significantly easier. Be it establishing moisture levels at the time of installation, preparing slabs for coating applications or even determining the precise location of encroaching moisture, Tramex have the right kit for the job.

But which kit do you need?

Moisture testing is an extremely vital part of construction, for a detailed reason why please see our very handy blog on the subject. Tramex offer some of the very best Moisture Inspection Kits on the market which specialise in moisture testing. However, there is so much variety between the kits it can be difficult to know where to begin. The first thing to consider is the Moisture Meter itself, with Tramex one of two choices are available depending on kit selection - The CME5 or the CMEX5.

CME5 vs CMEX5

The CME5 is an analogue unit, capable of non-destructive moisture measurements in concrete and screed. It features a concrete moisture content range of 0% to 6% and equivalent scales for anhydrite screed (0 to 1.9) and concrete screed (0 to 4). Thanks to the Bluetooth connection it is fully compatible with the Tramex App available on both iOS & Android.

Alternatively, the Bluetooth enabled CMEX5 offers a wealth of other features in addition to taking non-destructive moisture measurements. Specifically designed for concrete floors and slabs, using Gravimetric testing as a baseline the CMEX5 has a concrete moisture range of 0 - 6.9% and equivalent scales for gypsum floor screed (0 to 12) and concrete screed (0 to 4.3). Featuring a built-in ambient relative humidity (RH) sensor and in-situ RH / Pin Probe connections, by inserting a Tramex Hygro-i2 RH probe you can instantly change the instrument into Hygrometer Mode. Test ambient conditions of temperature, mixing ratios and dew point with a RH range of 0 to 99% and a humidity accuracy of ±2%. Furthermore with the addition of the handheld or hammer probe, the CMEX5 becomes a resistance type pin meter which can determine the moisture content of wood or wood based items.

Advanced Accessories

Once you know which Moisture Meter is the right one for you, the next step is accessories. These all depend on the answer to a few simple questions; What is the age of the concrete? Is there an over-flooring layer such a wood? How in-depth, literally, are you wanting to go? Whatever the answer, Tramex has got you covered.

Flooring Installation Quick Check Kits: With two choices available, the standard (IQCK) and Plus version (IQCPK), these sets are ideal for testing moisture content of concrete floor & ambient dew-point conditions at the time of installation. The Plus kit includes an upgraded Tramex Infrared Thermometer and the Tramex CMEX5 as opposed to the CME5 included with the standard kit.

Concrete Coatings Kits: Split into two kits, the Installer Tech Kit (CCTK) and Inspector Kit (CCIK) are for use before applying any sort of coating to a concrete floor. These sets provide instant, non-destructive quantitive moisture measurements alongside similar crucial information. The CCTK kit includes a Tramex Feedback Datalogger for long term monitoring of ambient relative humidity, dew point and temperature. Whilst the CCIK kit is supplied with an Infrared Thermometer for determining surface temperatures against dew-point conditions to avoid contestation related issues.

Flooring Inspection Kits: The ultimate in flooring inspection pre or post installation, this range of kits includes four sets. Each is supplied with either a CME5 or CMEX5 Concrete Moisture Encounter Meter. This is the choice for you should a job require a much more in-depth inspection. This series is designed for instant, non-destructive quantitive moisture testing of concrete & wood flooring and relative humidity and dew point testing.

  • Flooring Installer Tech Kit (FTK)
  • Flooring Inspector EZ Kit (FZK)
  • Flooring Inspector Kit (FIK)
  • Flooring Master Kit (FMK)

These kits are loaded with a multitude of advanced accessories such as a Feedback Datalooger, Contact Temperature Probe or Hygro-i2 Relative Humidity Probe, Infrared Thermometer, Heavy Duty Pin-Type Wood Probe, ME5 Moisture Encounter 5 and so much more. For a full breakdown of what is included in each set, please consult our Tramex Flooring Inspection Kits product page.

Concrete Determinator: What sets The Determinator apart from the other choices is that the standalone unit is actually itself an accessory for a Moisture Meter. However, don't let the term accessory fool you, this is still a vital piece of kit. The Determinator extends the capabilities of the entire Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter range, proving in-situ moisture content readings and determining whether moisture is originating from below or above. The standalone set (CDK) is supported by two alternative kit choices, the Tech Kit (CDTK) including a CMEX5 Moisture Meter and the Inspector Kit (CDIK) boasting a CMEX5, IR Thermometer, Hygro-i2 Relative Humidity Probe and much more. Please see our Tramex Concrete Moisture Probe - The Determinator page for more information.
