The Extech 407790A Type 2 Integrating Sound Level Meter & Real Time Octave Analyzer is an ideal instrument for professional-grade noise measurement, monitoring, and acoustic analysis. The 407790A is capable of measuring a wide range of sound levels that covers 20 to 130 dB, allowing it to capture everything from low-level natural noise to high-volume industrial environments.

Featuring a large 8.9mm (3.5inch) backlit colour TFT LCD screen with a 320 x 240 resolution, the 477090A clearly shows the sound readings in any lighting, including readings for Leq (Equivalent Continuous Sound Level), LE (Sound Exposure Level), Lmax, Lmin, Lp (instantaneous sound pressure level), and statistical metrics like L05, L10, L50, L90, and L95. These sound readings can be stored directly onto a removable 4 GB microSD card for later use or transferred to a PC via USB for detailed analysis using the Windows-compatible software (included).

Frequency weighting can be set as A, C, or Z to suit various measurement standards and sound profiles, with the user being able to choose between fast (125 ms) or slow (1 second) response times. With a wide frequency response range of 25Hz to 10kHz, the Extech 407790A accurately measures across most audible frequencies, complying with ANSI and IEC Type 2 regulatory standards. Additional features include a built-in real-time clock for accurate timestamps of recordings and an internal self-test that runs when the device is powered on to verify proper function.

A detachable 13.2mm condenser microphone offers the 407790A flexibility, and a tripod mount on the back allows for stable, hands-free monitoring over long periods, while an optional microphone extension cable (model 407764-EXT) allows noise measurements in confined or difficult-to-access spaces.
