The Radiodetection CAT4 & Genny4 Cable Avoidance Kit allows for users to identify, diagnose, and map underground utility services such as pipes, building structures, data/telecoms cables, and electricity cables. When used in conjunction with the Genny4 Signal Generator, the CAT4 is able to locate hidden utilities that would otherwise not generate enough EMF or radio signal to be detected by the CAT4 alone. 'StrikeAlert' software is also in-built into the CAT4, which presents a visible and accessible indication of utilities that are close to the surface and may therefore present a potential 'strike' list if they are unnoticed./p>

The CAT4 can be used effectively in 4 modes, which are as follows:

• Avoidance Mode - offers the simultaneous detection of Genny, power and radio signals
• Power Mode - this is used for the detection of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) that surround buried power cables
• Radio Mode - for detecting long-range radio signals which travel along buried pipes and cables
• Genny Mode - used for solely detecting signals which have been generated by the Radiodetection Genny4 Signal Generator

The CAT4 can filter out unwanted electrical noise which is most commonly found in and around electrical sub-stations and surface mounted HV cables, through 'Dynamic Overload Protection'. The signal strength is displayed on a high-contrast, backlit LCD screen, which features a bar graph allowing for the quick and easy pin-pointing of hidden utilities.

The Genny4 Signal Generator

The Genny4 offers the user a dual-frequency signal output, which with a 33kHz locate signal for general purpose utility tracing, can transmit a second frequency designed to locate smaller cables such as telecoms, data and street lighting. If more complicated applications are required, the Genny4 also features a new power boost function that allows for the frequency signal to travel further and deeper into the ground, whilst coupling onto utilities more easily. A high-strength neodymium magnet ensures that the Genny4 can be attached onto buried utility cables through metallic street furniture.

When used together, the CAT4 and Genny4 produce an industry-leading cable avoidance tool for use in a plethora of environments and testing sights. The CAT4 is also available as a CAT4+ or a gCAT4+, with the below table highlighting the key differences between the 3 models.
