BAUR Viola VLF Test Set – 44KV RMS / 62KV Peak

The BAUR Viola VLF Test Set is an extremely low frequency, high voltage tester which has been meticulously designed for accurate cable and cable sheath testing on electrical equipment and medium-voltage cables up to 35kV. With a maximum test voltage of 42.5kVrms / 60kVpeak, and the ability to run DC, VLF rectangular wave and truesinus voltage shapes. The Viola VLF ensures that the instrument is able to easily locate faults present in plastic and paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables with ease and accuracy.

The BAUR Viola VLF Test Set can perform cable, cable sheath and voltage tests in accordance with the industry standards, which are as follows:

  • Cable Tests - DIN VDE 0276 - 620/621 (CENELEC HD 620/621), IEEE 400-2012, IEEE 400.2-2013, IEC 60060-3
  • Cable Sheath Tests - IEC 60502 / IEC 60229
  • Voltage Withstand Tests - IEEE 433

This versatility sees the Viola as an industry-leading VLF tester, with truesinus technology providing a load-independent, reproducible, sinusoidal high voltage, which enables the BAUR to perform reliable voltage tests and precise dissipation factor and partial discharge measurements. This feature guarantees that results are repeatable and comparable.

The data collated by the Viola is able to be transferred to a PC via a USB interface, where it can be analysed, interpreted, and stored for future references. The test set can also be used to determine whether PE/XLPE cables are new, or if they have become damaged and need replacing. This allows the user to ensure their cable and cable sheaths are in full working order and are performing up to the required standards.
