Castle GA116L SONUS Class 1 Datalogging Sound Level Meter

The Castle GA116L SONUS Class 1 Datalogging Sound Level Meter is a useful instrument for performing risk assessments in compliance with the Noise at Work Regulations 1989. It can measure sound levels between 30dB and 140dB with three different ranges. Each range operates over 70dB and the meter also boasts Class 1 accuracy and 0.1dB resolution. Measurement options include average sound exposure (Leq), max sound (Lmax), peak sound, personal exposure (Lp) and percentiles alongside numerous other functions. The meter is capable of simultaneous measurement of two different variables.

The user can choose between A, C and Z weighting for both frequency and peak measurement as well as selecting ‘slow’, ‘fast’ and ‘impulse’ response time. The Castle GA116L can act as a dosemeter as well as taking peak and average measurement which allows the user to carry out assessments in compliance with the Noise at Work Regulations 1989.

The meter works through intuitive menus navigated by a push-button interface and automatically adjusts to the right settings when the user picks one of three modes. Results are shown in dB or Pa2h on the one-line digital screen.

The Castle GA116L has an internal memory with room for around 2100 records with time-and-date stamps for later reference. These can then be recalled to the digital screen or downloaded via a USB connection using the supplied Castle dBdataPro software. Operation is extremely simple despite this advanced functionality. The software also allows the user to determine the appropriate ear protection for the working environment.

Weighing just 220g and with dimensions of just 210mm x 60mm x 35mm, the Castle GA116L is truly pocket-sized and easy to transport. With helpful software, tough plastic casing and Class 1 accuracy, this sound meter is a perfect tool for in-depth Noise at Work assessments in all manner of industrial environments.
