Castle GA216L Safety/Environmental Datalogging Sound Level Meter

The Castle GA216L Safety/Environmental Datalogging Sound Level Meter is equally adept at taking personal noise exposure (LEpd) readings as it is performing environmental acoustic assessment. This is thanks to an overall measurement range of 35dB to 140dB with three different linear ranges of 35dB to 100dB, 50dB to 120dB and 70dB to 140dB.

The meter has simultaneous measurement for two different variables at once and provides measurement options such as average sound level, peak sound, single-event sound and max sound level. Percentile measurement offers an important extra function for environmental monitoring. A, C, and Z weighting options for frequency and peak allow the user lots of choice when taking measurements with the Castle GA216L and it is also possible to select slow, fast or impulse response times.

Operation is undertaken via the Castle GA216L’s intuitive menus and simple navigation buttons. It automatically selects the right settings when one of three mode is picked by the user and has a one-line digital display which displays readings in both dB and Pa2h.

The internal memory on the Castle GA216L has room for roughly 2100 time-and-date stamped results which can then be recalled to the screen at a later point or downloaded via USB to a PC using Castle dBdata Pro software. The software package also facilitates easy reporting and has an ear protection calculation function to ascertain an appropriate level of protection using the HML method.

The Castle GA216L is genuinely pocket sized and weighs just 220g, allowing the user to transport it easily to wherever it might be needed. The hardwearing plastic casing withstands the challenges of day-to-day use and the battery lasts for roughly 12 hours.
