Castle GA6224 Class 1 Sound Level Meter

The Castle GA6224 Class 1 Sound Level Meter is a user friendly instrument that can measure up to 130dB from a minimum of 27dB depending on the weighting (A, C, Flat) chosen by the user. The 1246N 1/2” electret microphone measures sound levels between 20Hz and 20kHz with a resolution of 0.1dB and Class 1 accuracy and the meter is also capable of performing Leq (equivalent continuous level) with measurements taken every 20.8µS. These capabilities make the instrument suitable for executing Noise at Work Risk Assessments in compliance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2006.

The Castle GA6224 provides the user with various weighting options and can measure five selectable percentile values plus sound exposure (LE). With a combination of Leq and Lx percentiles up to L90, the meter is suitable for environmental measurements as it is capable of simultaneous measurement of both of these variables plus other measurements. Measurement options include Leq (equivalent continuous level), Lmax (maximum RMS level), LE (sound exposure), peak, and Lx percentiles.

A wide linear range of 90dB makes the meter extremely easy to use and this usability is further enhanced by intuitive menus and clear function buttons. The clear backlit LCD display shows readings very clearly alongside an analogue bar graph which captures real-time fluctuations in the sound level. An onboard memory with 10,000 data points is perfect for recording the results of both noise risk assessments and environment monitoring and this data can then be downloaded to a PC via the Castle GA6224’s RS232 port.

The multiple options of the Castle GA6224 coupled with its excellent measuring range, resolution and accuracy make it an incredibly useful instrument that is nevertheless very easy to use. It is supplied in a hard carry case with a wind muffler.
