Castle GA6226 Class 2 Sound Level Meter

The Castle GA6226 Class 2 Sound Level Meter is an industrial and environmental datalogging noise meter that can measure sound levels between 28dB and 130dB via its Class 2 microphone. It can pick sound at any frequency between 20Hz and 8kHz and has an enormous 100dB linearity range which allows it to capture a full spectrum of sound without having to switch ranges.

These measurement capabilities make the Castle GA6226 ideally suited to both environmental monitoring and performing ‘noise at work’ risk assessments. It can monitor average sound level (Leq) in addition to peak noise and maximum and minimum readings which is extremely useful for safety at work checks. The low noise floor, percentile and interval measurement, meanwhile, are ideally suited to environmental monitoring. The user has the choice between A, C, and Z frequency weighting plus a choice of several ‘fast’, ‘slow’, or ‘impulse’ response times.

The datalogging function of the Castle GA6226 is particularly useful for environmental monitoring. It can save up to 10,000 readings in its internal memory and these can then be downloaded to a PC using the RS232 data output. Results are displayed on the backlit LCD display which also features an analogue bar graph-style display function.

The Castle GA6226 is surprisingly easy to use despite its advanced functionality. Intuitive menus are easily navigated using the simple push keys and allow the user to take full advantage of everything the meter has to offer.
