Complete all types of earth resistance measurements and earth measurements on pylons, as well as earth coupling, ground potential measurement, and continuity/resistance. The 3P earth measurement method is the traditional method of using rods to measure the resistance of an existing earth connection, and the kit allows the user to perform this.
With both an automatic and expert mode, the user can opt for either of the two modes:
- Automatic mode - the CA6472 has a single key for simple handling, with a simple STOP/START button and the selection of function by rotary switch. The instrument will carry out a default measurement at 128Hz, and then chooses the most appropriate frequency.
- Expert mode - users can choose the required measurement parameters (specific measurement frequency, frequency scan, measurement voltage between H and S, etc.) and can access additional measurement results for more accurate interpretation. It also automatically recognises input connections.
The CA6472 can be used in conjunction with the CA6474 to perform earth measurements on pylons, which would otherwise be impossible with traditional 3P methods, unless the dangerous and time-consuming process of disconnecting the earth cable is done. With 4 current sensors positioned around the footings of the pylon, and a frequency scan up to 5kHz, it is possible for the user to measure the earth impedance of the pylon precisely and selectively.
The kit is also provided with the P01102024 Earth Tester Kit, which enhances the capabilities of the CA6472 and CA6474.
