Chauvin Arnoux FTV500 Solar PV Multifunction Tester and I-V Curve Trace

The Chauvin Arnoux FTV500 Multifunction Tester is a portable instrument that has been designed to aid professionals working with photovoltaic systems. The FTV500 measures and analyses all the parameters of both single and three-phase systems, in line with international standards for testing. Combined with a large data storage capacity and data recording function, the tester is the perfect on-site instrument, providing an extensive and comprehensive system for scheduled maintenance.

Offering 3 DC current and voltage inputs, aswell as 3 AC current and voltage inputs, the FTV500 offers detailed measurements on photovoltaic installation. It measures DC/AC conversion efficiency, the active and theoretical power values and the phasor diagram at the outputs from the converter. The results are then measured against the regulatory reference values.

I-V Curve, I-V Quick Check (IEC62446, IEC60891)

The FTV500 can analyse the I-V curve and the characteristics of the panels and/or strings up to 1000V and 20A, and then compares them with the STC reference values. Using a 4P connection to manage the measurement, it displays:

  • The graphic showing the characteristic curves (current/voltage/power)
  • The main parameters
  • The comparison of the measurement results with the STC values, which are taken from an internal database in the photovoltaic modules

The user can then update the database, and integrate the specifications of the manufacturer for the panels they wish to test, using the quick test function.

The insulation resistance/continuity measurement can be used to check the electrical safety of the photovoltaic system, with the ability to measure insulation resistance without a current flowing without a current flowing, or even on live installations. The user can test voltage by selecting the test voltage (250-500-1,000VDC) and then programming a PASS/FAIL threshold alarm, which will give out an immediate result.

Remote Control, WiFi & VNC Technology, Test Reports

The FTV500 offers Virtual Network Computing (VNC) technology, which allows for the remote control and management of all the measurement functions from a smartphone, tablet or PC. It allows the user to support technicians from an office, with a large memory that allows for more than 10,000 measurements. The user can generate reports with a single click, and download and give access to the data base with a USB drive.

The FTV500's remote unit can collect reading of environmental parameters in real time, and then analyse results with them. WiFi technology transmits the date to the instrument, up to 200m in open conditions, with a patented mounting system which offers installation stability and measurement reliability.
