The EA Technology UTD2 UltraTEV Detector2 is an asset condition testing device used to simplify 'first-pass health and safety' testing. This essential personal safety device can test for partial discharge, aswell as scan for surface and internal activity, making it an important instrument to add to your kit. Relied upon by professionals in the power industry, the UltraTEV is equipped with dual-sensor technology, with both sensors set to indicate when PD activity has risen above an acceptable level.

The UltraTEV Detector2 low cost, yet high productivity, and helps the user meet the requirements of the HSG230 Health and Safety Executive, by keeping electrical switchgear safe. Equipped with a high-resolution, clear display, the Detector2 has three different LED lights that indicate different things, with green showing that no PD is present, amber suggesting that more monitoring is required, and red which requires immediate investigation. The red LED would suggest that there is potential danger to equipment and to personnel.

Essentially, partial discharge is when a small of insulation, in a high voltage environment, cannot cope with the load placed on it. This is potentially dangerous, and shows why the UltraTEV is a neccesary tool for maintenance.
