The Extech MO260 Moisture Meter can provide moisture readings in wood and building materials using both destructive and non-destructive measurement techniques. Non-destructive measurement – ideal for wood, particle board, carpeting, and tiles – is conducted using an inbuilt electromagnetic sensor and has a range of 0 to 99.9 (relative) with 0.1 max resolution. Electromagnetic signals penetrate down to 22mm below surface level.

Destructive moisture measurement, on the other hand, is carried out using the Extech MO260’s twin pins. These are capable of producing wood moisture equivalent (%WME) readings from 6.0 to 94.8% WME in sheet rock and other building materials with maximum resolution of 0.1%.

Readings are shown on the Extech MO260’s backlit digital display and a dynamic LED bar graph has a traffic light warning system to indicate the status of the target material. Operation is extremely simple as there are only two buttons.

Added practicality is provided by the attached protective cap for the moisture testing pins and this snaps onto the side of the Extech MO260 when the meter is in use. There is an inbuilt calibration feature that helps ensure accuracy and the pins are easy to replace. The moisture meter is covered by a one-year warranty and comes supplied with a 9V battery, replacement pins, a protective cap, and a soft pouch.
