FLIR A40 Advanced Smart Thermal Camera (choice of lens)

The FLIR A40 Advanced Smart Thermal Cameras is designed for users who require built-in analytics and alarm functions for condition monitoring and early fire detection. Offering flexibility and easy configuration, it meets the diverse requirements of automation and industrial applications. When integrated into cloud or Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems, the FLIR A40 helps users to protect their assets, enhance safety, increase uptime, and reduce costs typically associated with maintenance.

The user can quickly access detailed thermal characteristics using the wide-area, non-contact temperature sensor, offering up to 320 x 240 (76,800 pixels) resolution, ±2°C accuracy, and FLIR’s patented MSX® Image Enhancement (not available on the A40 95° version). The thermal smart sensors integrate seamlessly with standard industrial protocols and video management systems, including HMI and SCADA, simplifying setup and communication. Lightweight and IP66 rated, the camera is easy to install in any location using M8/12 connectors and multiple mounting options, providing flexible deployment across a range of applications.

The FLIR A40 Advanced Smart Thermal Camera is available with three lens options, which are as follows:

  • FLIR A40 Advanced Smart 29° (incl MSX) – FLIR Part Number: 89829-0601
  • FLIR A40 Advanced Smart 51° (incl MSX) – FLIR Part Number: 89851-0601
  • FLIR A40 Advanced Smart 95° (incl Visible Camera) – FLIR Part Number - 89895-0601

The FLIR A40 delivers precise and stable temperature measurement for continuous 24/7 monitoring when ultra-high resolution isn’t required. It offers three field-of-view options (29°, 51°, and 95°), and supports measurement ranges from -20°C to 1000°C with ±2°C accuracy. The camera provides a range of on-board analytical functions, including up to 10 spotmeters, 10 measurement areas, and automatic hot/cold detection, with measurement updates up to 10 Hz.

Designed for seamless integration, the A40 supports multiple industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, MQTT, and REST API, making it easy to embed into IT, SCADA, or automation systems. Users can configure alarms to trigger through digital outputs, email notifications, FTP transfers, or MQTT messages, and stream visual, infrared, or radiometric video in formats like H.264, MPEG-4, or MJPEG.

Connectivity and installation are simplified with M12 Ethernet and 12-pin connectors, PoE (IEEE 802.3af) power, and a rugged IP66-rated enclosure with a diamond-like, carbon lens coating for durability in harsh conditions. The A40’s multiple streaming, overlay, and enhancement options (Including FSX® and MSX®) ensure clear, detailed imaging for both monitoring and analysis applications.
