FLIR A700 Image Streaming Thermal Camera (Choice of Lens)

The FLIR A700 Image Streaming Thermal Camera is the flagship model in FLIR's automation camera series, designed for demanding applications that require precise thermal monitoring, such as detecting small temperature variations or monitoring fine targets from a distance.

Imaging & Performance

The A700 features a 640 × 480 infrared detector with a finely tuned 12 µm pixel pitch. This smaller pixel size allows the camera to capture finer thermal detail, resulting in higher spatial resolution and more accurate thermal measurements. The A700 has a broad object temperature range of -20°C to 2000°C, making it suitable for both low-temperature inspections and high-temperature industrial applications such as foundries. Its thermal sensitivity (NETD) is lens-dependent, allowing it to detect small temperature differences even in challenging environmental conditions. This adaptability makes it ideal for quality control, predictive maintenance, and process monitoring.

Lens Configurations

The A700 offers a range of lens configurations tailored to suit different field-of-view and distance requirements, from detailed close-up inspections to large-area monitoring. Lens options include:

  • FLIR A700 Image Streaming 14° Lens (part number: 85903-0401)
  • FLIR A700 Image Streaming 24° Lens (part number: 85901-0401)
  • FLIR A700 Image Streaming 42° Lens (part number: 85902-0401 10 mm)
  • FLIR A700 Image Streaming DFOV 42° + 24° Lens (part number: 85912-0401)

It supports motorised, manual, and one-shot contrast focus modes, allowing for rapid and precise focusing while maintaining consistent clarity even in automated systems. The A700 automatically identifies each lens, making configuration simple and reducing setup time.

Connectivity & Streaming

The A700 is built for real-time thermal data transmission and system integration. It also supports radiometric and video streaming using the GVSP (GigE Vision) and RTSP protocols. Using a visual camera accessory, user can stream radiometric IR video at 320 × 240 pixels or visual/IR/MSX® composite images at 640 × 480 pixels. A Gigabit Ethernet interface manages communication and power, while Power over Ethernet (PoE) makes installation easier.

The A700 is compatible with GigE Vision version 1.2 and GenICam standards, allowing for seamless integration with industrial imaging systems. It also supports MQTT, REST API, Modbus TCP, Ethernet, and optional Wi-Fi, making it suitable for smart factories and industrial IoT networks.

Environmental Durability

The A700 is rated IP54, and when paired with protective accessories, it can achieve IP66 for dust and water resistance. It operates reliably in temperatures ranging from –20°C to +50°C, with enhanced cooling support for higher ambient conditions, and complies with multiple industrial durability standards, including: shock, vibration, humidity and corrosion resistance. This rugged design ensures the camera performs consistently in production plants, foundries, or outdoor installations.
