The FLIR AX8 Thermal Imaging Condition & Safety Monitor combines a thermal imaging camera and a visual light camera to create a compact and affordable device designed for continuous temperature monitoring and alarming. This innovative solution helps prevent unplanned outages, reduce downtime, and protect valuable assets by providing real-time temperature data and automated alarms. Dual Imaging for Continuous Monitoring

The AX8 features an 80 × 60 pixel uncooled microbolometer detector that is capable of measuring temperatures from –10°C to +150°C with a thermal sensitivity of <0.10°C (100 mK), detecting even the smallest temperature variations. It also features a built-in digital camera that offers a 640 × 480 resolution and provides clear visual context to complement thermal data. This combination allows users to quickly pinpoint the exact component or location affected by a temperature anomaly. The system is further enhanced by FLIR’s MSX® (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging) technology, which overlays visual details onto thermal images for improved clarity.

Automatic Analysis & Alarm Functions

The AX8 performs automatic temperature analysis and supports up to five independent alarms that can trigger multiple responses, including digital outputs, image capture, file transfer via FTP, email alerts, or direct notifications. It continuously analyses temperature data and provides real-time streaming video output. When an alarm is triggered, the AX8 immediately stores thermal and visual images, sends alerts, or integrates alarm data directly into automation systems. This capability makes it a tool for proactive safety and maintenance, ideal for early fire detection, electrical fault prevention, and mechanical equipment monitoring in critical environments.

Seamless Communication & Industrial Integration

The AX8 is fully compliant with Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP and supports a wide range of Ethernet protocols, including TCP, UDP, RTSP, RTP, HTTP, SNTP, SMTP, SMB, DHCP, and IGMP, ensuring compatibility with modern network infrastructures. Data and video can be transmitted securely via Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying installation and reducing cable clutter. With Ethernet-based control, result transmission, and image streaming, users gain full access to both live feeds and stored images through a standard network connection. Supported streaming formats include Motion JPEG, MPEG, and H.264, with resolutions up to 640 × 480 pixels, ensuring smooth and detailed video output.
