Fluke 787B ProcessMeter™

The Fluke 787B cleverly amalgamates the functions of both a digital multimeter and a mA loop calibrator, thereby permitting comprehensive electrical inspections alongside accurate loop calibration. It can measure current up to 1A, voltage up to 1000V, resistance up 40MΩ, frequency up to 20kHz and also performs continuity and diode testing. True RMS measurement makes AC readings more accurate and the 787 boasts min/max/avg recording as well as display hold. To save time but still provide flexibility, the user can choose between automatic and manual ranging whilst relative mode permits compensation for test lead resistance amongst other uses.

From a loop calibration perspective, the Fluke 787B can source and simulate current between 4 and 20mA with an accuracy of ±0.05% and a precision of 0.001mA so it is suitable for most loop calibration functions. Different sourcing options are available with automatic slow ramp, fast ramp, manual coarse/fine/25% step and auto step. Readings are given in both milliamps and as a percentage for a comprehensive picture of loop performance.

Results for electrical measurement and loop calibration are shown on the Fluke 787B's clear, backlit screen. Operating the instrument is very easy despite the many different functions because of the clear rotating dial and simple on-screen symbols. The Cat III safety rating up to 1000V ensures that the user can have confidence in the device and it comes supplied with test leads, crocodile clips, test probes, and a rubber holster with an integrated stand. Overall, the Fluke 787B neatly combines accurate loop calibration capability with handy electrical measurement functions.
