Fluke 820-2 LED Stroboscope

The Fluke 820-2 LED Stroboscope hand held tool ideal for stop motion diagnostics, mechanical troubleshooting and process or product research and development. The highly accurate (0.02 % (± 1 digit) the 820-2 gives the operator a high intensity 7 LED array - 4800 Lux @ 6,000 flashes per minute (FPM) at 30cm. The 820-2 allows High efficiency LED solid-state light source with uniform flash characteristics allows for higher flash rates from 30-300,000 FPM (flashes per minute). The flash pulse duration and delay are both Adjustable in μs or degrees.

The Fluke 820-2 can also be used as a strobe tachometer to measure speed instead of using a laser tachometer. Using a stone tachometer eliminates the need to place a piece of reflective tape or making contact with the moving shaft to use a contact tachometer. Using the Fluke 820-2 users can "stop" the shaft down to 300 RPM (FPM)

Using the 820-2 operators are able perform tests in a number of different environments such as:

  • Turbines that vary in speed and change speed frequently
  • Variable frequency drive motors that vary in speed but not the frequency
  • Find belt rotation speed and look for belt slippage,
  • Find machine element components such as fan blades, pump vanes, compressor screws and gear teeth
  • RPM measurements and frequency investigation and Slip measurement
  • Slip measurement

The 820-2 allows for the diagnosis of parasitic oscillations, flaws, slippage or any unwanted distortions. The speed of rotation or the frequent of a rotating shaft, speaker or mechanical part can all be measured. Stop motion diagnostics allows for identification of the running speed of rotating equipment, identify part numbers or other markings

Adjustable flash duration

Most applications only require the standard flash duration that requires no adjustment. However, in some instances such as applications with higher rpm or larger rotating objects with high surface speeds, an adjustable flash duration is required. In high speed applications, an object may move during the period of a single flash, which produces a blurred image. With a reduction in flash duration the object will have less time to move and the image will appear sharper.

Fluke 820-2 can be used in a variety of industries such as:

  • Electronics/Electrical engineering
  • Machine construction
  • Automotive and motor manufacturing
  • Optics manufacturing
  • Print, paper and cardboard manufacturing
  • Mining
  • Shipbuilding and aircraft construction
  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Medical

The Fluke 820-2 has been drop tested from 1m and with an ergonomic design provides an easy to use tool with a simple push button operation with 2x and ÷2 buttons for easy adjustment, that can be safely transported and stored in the supplied protective case.
