The Fluke SmartTrace™ 2082BT Elite Underground Utilities Locator Kit accurately and efficiently pinpoints energised and de-energised underground utilities, giving electricians and utility technicians the confidence to locate infrastructure before excavation begins while reducing costly repairs, downtime and hazardous public safety situations.

Locating Performance

The system comes with a powerful transmitter that uses a proven 33 kHz frequency, ideal for most utility locating applications. Using the receiver, operators are able to trace signals through either Induction Mode or Direct Connection using the supplied test leads. This allows for fast sound and meter response, helping technicians follow underground lines and identify their path effeciently and with ease. The locator provides depth measurement up to 6 m (20 ft) and a detection range extending to 30 m (100 ft), depending on field conditions, while highly sensitive Power and Radio Modes also help detect energised cables and radio signals travelling along underground lines.

Signal Modes & Frequency Options

To keep measurements steady in congested, noisy environments, the receiver employs advanced signal processing with semi‑automatic gain control so readings remain fast and stable even when conditions change – helping crews trace precisely without constant manual adjustment. Real‑Time Digital Mapping & Documentation

The SmartTrace™ 2082BT seamlessly connects over Bluetooth® to the PointMan® mobile platform, allowing technicians to map and document each location in real time directly from the job site. GPS coordinates, signal type, depth, and date and time can all be captured automatically and stored digitally. Data can then be exported to major compatible GIS and asset-management systems such as Esri® and Trimble®, reducing manual marking and  transcription errors while simplifying job closeout and compliance reporting.
