Franklin Electric DTM-4 Transformer Monitor (select communication type)

The Franklin Electric DTM-4 Transformer Monitor provides the user with continuous, meter-grade precision performance monitoring of high-value, mission critical, low voltage pad mount transformers and conventional pole top transformers. The DTM is not only able to track the loss of life in a transformer, but is also able to employ advanced predictive algorithms to forecast the estimated remaining running time. The DTM ensures a near-continuous assessment of transformer health, considering real-time conditions and applying a calculated dynamic acceleration factor to predict the cumulative loss of life accurately.

By continuously monitoring the key indicators of a transformer’s performance, including its temperature and load, the DTM provides remote access to real-time transformer health data and automated threshold alarms for condition-based maintenance planning. The DTM is able to provide a transformers Power Factor, which is a trend of useful power delivered. This helps utilities determine the most efficient distribution of power during peak times and ensures the delivery of high-quality outbound power when their customers need it the most.

The DTM-4 Transformer Monitor provides superior on-board computation capability and Power Quality Monitor level fidelity, thanks to a powerful, industrial IoT grade processor and sophisticated polyphase energy measurement integrated circuit. The DTM can be applied to any type of three-phase distribution transformer with a secondary output of 480 volts or less, phase to neutral. Included split-core Rogowski Coils (x4) are able to measure load current, with voltage leads (x5) able to measure across three phases, as well as neutral and ground. The DTM-4 is supplied with several other accessories which enhance the instrument, and improve user experience. The Franklin Electric Grid Solution Technical and Field Support Teams are here to assist with training, installation, and support.

Our Field team will come to your site for training or installation supervision and our Support Center staff is available to assist with troubleshooting, warranty processing, and software installation support.

Ethernet or Cellular: Which Is Right for You?

The Franklin Electric DTM-4 Transformer Monitor is available with one of two communication types, which the user can select to best suit their application needs. Choose from a built-in Cat M1/NB2 cellular modem that allows the DTM-4 to communicate via Verizon® and compatible private LTE networks, or an Ethernet connection capable of DNP3 and MODBUS protocols, enabling utilities to deploy the DTM anywhere and at scale. The Franklin UNITE™ Asset Management Database: How It Helps With the DTM-4 Transformer Monitor

Via the UNITE™ web interface, utilities can manage by exception with customised threshold alarms and notifications. An MQTT / TLS Comms Protocol allows the DTM to securely communicate with UNITE™, with the database application able to provide real-time DTM data visualisation tools. See more information about UNITE™ Asset Management below, and how it can help with your instruments.

Please note: UNITE™ is an optional extra, and can be purchased for this product by alerting a member of our team when selecting 'Request a Callback / Quote' at the top of the page.

UNITE™ Asset Management Database

UNITE™ is a sophisticated database that provides a range of benefits to the user, such as:

  • Comprehensive Battery Monitoring & Data Management - Centralized real-time and historical battery data with advanced visualization tools, including detailed discharge event timelines.
  • Seamless Connectivity & Monitoring - Wireless handheld tester uploads, network-wide plant monitoring via map view, and configurable threshold alarms through email or text.
  • Effortless Reporting & Customization - One-click string report generation, customizable report templates, and flexible user roles for tiered access.
  • Secure & Reliable Cloud Hosting - Hosted on the highly secure Microsoft® Azure® cloud platform.
