Franklin Electric INCON Optimizer 3 Circuit Breaker Monitor

The Franklin Electric INCON Optimizer 3 Circuit Breaker Monitor is an online continuous performance monitor for high voltage circuit breaker, which has been expertly designed to facilitate condition-based maintenance with real-time performance and health data. The Incon Optimizer 3 is the ideal choice for high-voltage, live or dead-tank, oil, vacuum or gas circuit breakers. With the early detection of circuit breaker deficiencies, the Optimizer3 enables utilities to proactively address issues before they escalate, saving the user both time and resources, whilst also helping boost efficiency. Maintenance is able to be deployed with intelligence, with the user also able to defer offline testing, limit deployment of staff, and lower overall maintenance costs with the Optimizer3. This circuit breaker monitor has an array of sensors and can monitor both the mechanical and electrical performance of the circuit breaker to perform trending analysis that predicts the date of future service. A number of standard communication paths can provide data monitoring and reporting.

Within the milliseconds it takes for a circuit breaker to trip, the Optimizer3 is able to collect a full battery of timing data. Measurements including opening (trip) time, clearing time, arc duration, and opening/closing travel times and velocities are automatically analysed to provide a full assessment of the circuit breaker’s health, which is something that offline testing is unable to deliver. The Optimizer3 is also able to continuously measure SF6 gas density, pressure and temperature, and will assert an alarm if the pressure or density is too low. Low density and excess moisture can seriously compromise the insulating properties of SF6 gas and lead to a catastrophic failure. The Optimizer3 will detect and trend any SF6 leakage and provide an early warning, long before damage occurs while also automating EPA compliance reporting.

The Franklin Electric Grid Solution Technical and Field Support Teams are here to assist with training, installation, and support. Our Field team will come to your site for training or installation supervision and our Support Center staff is available to assist with troubleshooting, warranty processing, and software installation support.

A Magnetic Mounting Kit is also available for purchase, by contacting our team when looking to purchase the Optimizer 3. This kit is an additional £225, and includes 4 x clip nuts, 4 x screws, and 4 x magnets, which allow for non-drill easy mounting to ferrous metal panels and enclosures. An NEMA cabinet rating is not compromised by having to drill.

Components & Dimensions of the Incon Optimizer 3 Circuit Breaker Monitor

With 8 sensor inputs, 5 timing inputs, and an onboard ambient temperature sensor and supply voltage monitor, the INCON® Optimizer3 and its array of sensors deliver a complete diagnostics report of a circuit breaker’s performance. The no-drill, magnetic surface mount kit facilitates installation in the circuit breaker control cabinet without compromising the NEMA rating. Simple connections to auxiliary switches ensure quick installation.

Communication

The web-based CONVERGE™ user interface allows users to securely connect directly to the Optimizer3 from any web enabled device without having to host anything on a server. Performance data is delivered through standard network communication protocols to maintenance, reliability, and environmental protection stakeholders with role-based access and permissions. Data is presented via a user-friendly interface where personnel can identify potential issues at a glance.

The Optimizer3 functions as a web server, and allows remote access to real-time circuit breaker monitoring, with unlimited users able to receive customisable permissions. Simple system setup and configuration is available, with customisable report generation with CSV downloads. Setups can also be copied and deployed to other units.
