IPEC ASM-P Portable Partial Discharge Monitor

The IPEC ASM-P Portable Partial Discharge Monitor allows for the partial discharge (PD)to be monitored in cables, switchgear and other high voltage assets. The ASM-P can be configured with up to 32 partial discharge sensor channels. If the ASM-P detects excessive discharge an alarm will be raised that can be figured either locally or by email. Long term assessment of plant conditions can be carried out quickly and easily remotely from any computer Online PD detection occurs when the ASM-P uses PD sensors that couple to the HV network and equipment non-intrusively and online meaning no disconnection of the circuits are needed.

The ASM-P allows for 24/7 partial discharge monitoring allowing for faults to be detected quickly before failures occur. The ASM-P will automatically detect and identify partial discharge without the need for manual analysis.

Partial discharge data that is collected by the ASM-P is automatically collected and is stored on a central database that is hosted by IPEC. With direct password protected access, customers can remotely monitor data and plant conditions via the internet from any PC. Remote access and data collected using the ASM-P’s DeCIFer™ algorithm allowing for scheduled maintenance to be undertaken before failures happen and improve reliability. Based on the magnitude of activity levels that have been recorded and the trend of the activity, the ASM-P automatically generates a 'league table' that gives a clear and clear representation pf the condition of monitored high voltage assets at any moment in time.

The ASM-P and the PD data analysis page allows for signals from any channel to be analysed. Data from any period and signal resolved in phase viewed can be selected. Further analysis features include:

  • PD peak, PD count, Load, asset criticality and analogues plotted against time
  • Any time period selectable
  • Up to 8 channels selectable at once
  • Multiple thresholds for count between 5mV and 100mV
  • Data averaging and noise reduction functions
  • Rectified/Bi-polar graphs
  • Phase resolved PD data in linear/polar representation
  • Cumulative count data
  • Time of day analysis

The ASM-P is compatible with a number of sensors that can be distributed around a substation accruing to the desired monitoring requirements. Both active (with integral amplifiers) and passive transducers are compatible with:

  • High frequency CTs for cable partial discharge detection
  • Capacitively coupled for TEV (switch gear partial discharge detection
  • Airborne acoustic for surface tracking or corona
  • Temperature and humidity for environmental measurements
  • Up to 32 sensors can be monitored simultaneously by a single ASM-P

The unique range of sensors and systems the IPEC offer are designed to monitor assess on a network above 5kV. The solutions span MV, HV and EHV assists both indoors and outside type of switchgear, cables, rotating machines and network accessories.

The ASM-P is fully portable and enclosed in a tough IP54 rated carry case with an extendable handle. Weighing 30KG with the wheeled case housing, the ASM-P can be transported easily and quickly and installed site.

Key Features
