ITC Introduction to Thermography Course (Online)

The ITC Introduction to Thermography Course (Online) is a one-day foundation course in thermography from the Infrared Training Centre (ITC) which will teach the basics of thermography, enabling the delegate to learn foundation-level thermal imaging to produce surveys, safely and avoid making common mistakes. There are no specific requirements for delegates to attend the course.

The foundation course is aimed at anyone who is new to thermal imaging or anyone wanting to take the first steps in becoming a professional thermographer. The course is ideal for those looking to start in a number of application areas including:

  • Electrical Thermography
  • Building Thermography
  • Solar panel inspections
  • HVAC and plumbing inspections

Understanding how a thermal image camera works correctly is important and which settings to use for accurate measurements, materials or scenarios to avoid and how to select the best point for a measurement reading. How to interpret the findings and images and generate a report from this information is vital.

Misinterpreting thermal images can be an easy mistake to make for a variety of reasons such as the thermal camera not being set up properly or surroundings and materials not being taken into account. Completion of the ITC course will enable the delegate to gain knowledge in how to use their camera properly and a range of skills such as understating emissivity and reflected temperatures, and the influence of the angle and object size on the measurement.

The one-day ITC foundation course is an interactive course taught online via Zoom in English. Topics taught such as thermal pattern analysis and practical interactive demonstration using real-life situations allow you to put your knowledge into practice. At the end of the course, an example is given showing a bad report generated and using the knowledge acquired on the course to spot errors. On completion of the course attendees are issued with an ITC course handbook and an official registered ITC certificate of attendance.

The delegate does not require a thermal image camera to attend the course as all equipment needed for the practical interactive demonstrations is provided remotely. Courses start at 9.30am and finish at approximately 4.00pm.
