The Chauvin Arnoux MTX 3297Ex is an instrinsically safe electrical multimeter that allows for work to be conducted in explosive Ex zones such as mines, in the presence of gas and explosive dust. Approved and certified for use in the highest levels of risk environment, the MTX 3297Ex is certified as Ex and IECEx for zones including:

• IIC (gas) 0, 1 and 2
• IIIC (dust) 20,21 and 22
• Mines M1

Zone 0 Classification

As well as the above zones, the MTX 3297Ex can be used for permanent use in oil, chemicals, agri-food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries with further use in cement production and mining. Compliant with IEC 61010-2-033 standards, the digital multimeter is suitable for work on 1000V CAT III/600V CAT IV electrical installations. The MTX 3297 ATEX Multimeter is classified as Zone 0 allowing for a number of opportunities to use the meter in Zone 0 environments including:

• Petrochemical Refineries: Certain areas within refineries including storage tanks, process vessels and pipelines where tightly flammable substances are handled.,
• Chemical Manufacturing facilities: Processing units or storage units that deal with chemicals or solvents that can be volatile.

With an ergonomic and rugged design, the MTX 3297Ex, has a number of of useful features that allow for measurement work to be conducted quickly and efficiently. The multimeter has a single terminal with automatic switch to current measurement when a connector is inserted into the A terminal. The large backlit screen offers double display with 60,000 count and a barograph with central zero mode. The device detects and will show indication of a hazardous voltage present on the instruments terminal strip.

The MTX 3297Ex allows for a wide range of electrical measurements to be undertaken with a main measurement for each backlit key:

The MTX 3297Ex offers high performance with a high degree of accuracy regardless of the type, shape and amplitude of the signal. TRMS nAC/DC acquisition, 100 MHz bandwidth and 1μV resolution for voltage, 0.01 μA resolution for current measurements are also measurable accurately.

Onscreen Min, Max, Peak+ and Peak- functions can be shown on screen with the instrument also providing ΔX differential and ΔX /X relative functions to help with analysis and troubleshooting . Low-pass filter for measurement on PWM signals and VLowZ low-impedance DC voltage in the presence of disturbance voltages functions are also available.

The MTX 3297Ex can help with industrial maintenance and troubleshooting by measuring quality and performance of motors, PLCs and other troubleshooting to help with analysis and diagnostic. Users are able to measure, verify and adjust the parameters, their constants and the way that they change.

With an IP67 rating offering protection from water and dust ingress, the MTX 3297Ex complete with a moulded casing is protected against accidental damage or being dropped when working in hazardous environments.
