Radiodetection gCAT4+ & Genny4 Cable Avoidance Kit

The Radiodetection gCAT4+ & Genny4 Cable Avoidance Kit allows users to detect, evaluate, and map underground utilities such as pipes, building structures, telecom/data cables, and electrical lines. When used with the Genny4 Signal Generator, the gCAT4+ can locate hidden utilities that do not generate enough electromagnetic or radio signals on their own. It also includes 'StrikeAlert' software, offering a clear visual warning for shallow utilities that may present a hazard if unnoticed.

In addition to these features, the CAT4+ offers a depth function. When operating in 'Genny mode' (which requires the use of the Genny4), the device provides a depth indication for the detected utility service.

The top-of-the-line Radiodetection gCAT4+ comes equipped with a SWING warning feature, utilizing built-in motion sensors to alert operators of excessive or rapid swinging of the instrument, promoting optimal working practices. It also includes an integrated data acquisition log, capable of storing over a year’s worth of surveying data, which can be downloaded via USB and analyzed using the optional CAT Manager Software. Additionally, GPS/GNSS automatically logs the geographic location of measurements without requiring any user input.

The gCAT4+ can be used in 4 different modes, which are:

• Avoidance mode: Simultaneously detects Genny, power, and radio signals
• Power mode: Detects electromagnetic fields (EMFs) around buried electrical supply cables
• Radio mode: Detects long-range radio signals transmitted through buried pipes and cables
• Genny mode: Used with the optional Radiodetection Genny4 Signal Generator to detect generated signals. When used with the CAT4+, it also displays the depth of buried utilities

The CALSafe feature and service indication on the gCAT4+ can be programmed to automatically 'lock out' the device once the calibration expiry date is reached. A service reminder indicator can also be set, counting down from 31 days to notify the user of an upcoming calibration service. Additionally, the gCAT4+ includes the 'StrikeAlert' feature, which warns the operator of underground utilities located near the surface, highlighting potential 'strike' risks if left undetected.

The CAT4+ is equipped with 'Dynamic Overload Protection', allowing it to filter out unwanted electrical noise, commonly found near electrical substations and surface-mounted high-voltage (HV) cables. The device displays signal strength on a high-contrast, backlit LCD screen, featuring a bar graph for quick and easy pinpointing of hidden utilities.

The Genny4 Signal Generator

The Genny4 offers a dual-frequency signal output, featuring a 33kHz locate signal for general utility tracing, along with an additional frequency specifically designed to locate smaller cables such as telecom, data, and street lighting lines. For more advanced applications, the Genny4's power boost function enables the signal to travel further and penetrate deeper underground, improving its ability to connect with utilities. A high-strength neodymium magnet ensures secure attachment to buried utility cables through metallic street furniture.
