Seaward PV:1525 1500 V Solar PV Installation Tester

The Seaward PV:1525 1500V Solar PV Installation Tester is a next-generation, compact and field-ready solar PV tester designed to commission, inspect, troubleshoot and maintain photovoltaic systems up to 1500V DC and 25A. The Seaward PV:1525 streamlines testing and makes it efficient for PV installers and O&M engineers. Capable of verifying the electrical safety and performance of both residential and commercial solar installations, the PV:1525 enables users to easily deliver reliable results that are compliant with international standards such as IEC 62446 and EN 61557.

Comprehensive Electrical Safety Tests

The Seaward PV:1525 provides a full suite of electrical safety tests to ensure accurate assessments. These include open-circuit voltage measurements ranging from 5.0V DC to 1500V DC, with a resolution of 0.1V, as well as a short-circuit current measurement ranging from 0.50A DC to 25.00A DC, with 0.01A resolution that supports a maximum power measurement of up to 37.5kW.

For insulation resistance testing, the PV:1525 allows varied selectable test voltages of 250V, 500V, 1000V, and 1500V DC (as per IEC61557-2) to detect insulation degradation or faults between PV conductors and earth, with a measurable range of 0.05MΩ to 300MΩ and 0.01MΩ resolution. For earth continuity test, the PV:1525 delivers high accuracy measurements that range from 0.05Ω to 199Ω (as per EN 61557-4), powered by a test current greater than 200mA and open circuit voltage above 4V DC nominal.

The PV:1525 can also measure Rpe voltage, using 4mm terminals, to check the safety of the earth connection, with voltages ranging from 30V to 440V AC/DC. When using the wireless PV:1500V clamp meter, operating current measurements span from 0.1A to 40.0A for both AC (50–60Hz) and DC currents, allowing precise, contactless current profiling during commissioning or maintenance.

Seaward PV:1525 1500V Innovative New Interface

The Seaward PV:1525 has been carefully designed with user-experience in mind, featuring an intuitive interface, illuminated function buttons (allowing for guided navigation and testing as well as better visibility in low-light conditions), an 88.9mm (3.5 inch) colour screen display, and built-in memory that can store up to 1000 test records. With integrated Bluetooth connectivity, solar professionals can enjoy seamless and efficient data transfer to the Seaward PV Mobile App, which supports result tagging, cloud syncing, and wireless firmware updates to keep the unit updated with the latest features.

Unlike its predecessors that relied on AA batteries for power, the PV:1525 uses a rechargeable 11.55V 2930mAh LiPo battery, giving users hours of extended operation on the go, and comes complete with accessories such as 4 mm test probes, MC4-compatible leads, the PV:1500 wireless clamp meter, a solar panel clamp, and a carry case. It also includes a LiPo battery pack, battery charger, quick start guide and the SolarCerts pack to support full system documentation.

Seaward PV Mobile App

The Seaward PV Mobile App is free to download on compatible Android and iOS devices. It enables wireless data transfer from the Seaward PV:1525 to a smartphone via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for manual result logging. The PV mobile app also supports wireless firmware upgrades, ensuring the solar tester remains up to date with the latest features and improvements.

With the app, users can view I-V and power curves in full colour and high definition directly in the field, supporting fast and accurate visual analysis. This helps identify common issues such as shading, defective cells, or poor electrical connections. Using irradiance and temperature data from the Seaward SS200LR, the app allows for I-V curve correction to standard test conditions (STC: 1000 W/m², 25°C), enabling more accurate comparisons with the manufacturer's data.
