Socket & See TB118 Gas Engineer's Advanced Electrical Test Kit ensures you have everything for safe isolation procedures, enabling compliance with safety laws and preventing electrical accidents. The TB118 GAS SAFE directive protects gas engineers from making a mistake by requiring the loop safety check to be performed prior to the connection.

As part of the TB118 Gas Engineer's Advanced Electrical Test Kit, you receive a Socket & See DLM PRO combined DMM, loop and socket tester that indicates whether the installation is safe to connect to, a VVD PRO non-contact voltage detector, and a SP400 proofing unit that demonstrates safe isolation and lockoff devices so you can safely isolate high-current 13 Amp plugs, MCB / RCB, and fused spurs. In addition, there is a protective bag to keep everything secure and ready to go.

Multimeter functionality is also included in the DLM PRO for appliance fault finding right down to the component level.

Socket & See TB118 Gas Engineer’s Advanced Electrical Test Kit

The Socket & See TB118 Gas Engineers Advanced Electrical Test Kit, provides everything you need to comply with Technical Bulletin 118 (safe electrical isolation of gas appliances.) As part of the TB118 Advanced Kit you get a Socket & See VVD PRO voltage detector, which can be used to conduct the safe to touch test for the presence of hazardous voltage on appliances, pipework, and exposed metal work, which is in accordance with safety standards TS118, BS 6891, and BS 6400. The VVD PRO non-contact voltage indicator gives visual and physical warning of any hazardous voltage identified, allowing you to work safely.

A lock off device is also provided in the Socket & See TB118 Advanced Electrical Test Kit in case an electrical appliance is connected to the mains. The lock included in the advanced kit is the 13Amp plugs, MCB / RCB, and fused spurs. As a safety measure, the TB118 kit includes a VIP150 two-pole voltage indicator and SP400 proving unit accompanied by prohibition tags, so that the full “lockout – tag out” procedure can be conducted. With its small size and battery-free operation, the VIP150 voltage indicator part of the TB118 Advanced Test Kit is ideal for tight spaces and terminal blocks. TB118 safe isolation procedures Stages 2 and 4 require the use of a proving unit to demonstrate the function of voltage indicators before and after use, and the SP400 proving unit is designed to provide an accessible AC “known source” for this purpose. An exclusive feature of the SP400 proving unit is a test pad to prove non-contact voltage detectors, such as the Socket & See VVD PRO.

As gas appliances are class 1 (earthed enclosures), the power supply earthing must be verified in accordance with TB118. It is possible to perform the earth loop impedance test without tripping the installation RCD by using the DLM PRO combined DMM, loop and socket tester. An added feature of the DLM PRO, also includes multimeter functionality for appliance fault finding down to component level.
