T&R TPT9000 Current and Voltage Transformer Polarity Tester

The TPT9000 Current and Voltage Transformer Polarity Tester is tailored to help commissioning engineers accurately determine transformer polarity in electrical substations and industrial environments. It features a user-friendly, plug-and-play design which simplifies polarity testing on current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (VTs), helping reduce setup time while also helping engineers identify incorrect transformer connections.

With a lightweight build, the TPT9000 comes with a magnetised back panel that allows it to be secured onto metallic surfaces during testing. Smart automatic detection technology helps identify incorrect transformer connections, reducing user error, while the included proving unit makes it easy to verify instrument functionality on-site before use. This adds reassurance during commissioning and maintenance procedures where reliable results are needed.

The TPT9000 is designed with safety in mind and is intended for use on “dead” systems only (i.e., no externally supplied voltages are present on the test object). It is strongly advised not to connect it to a live system. For added protection, the kit includes 600V CAT IV fused test leads with shrouded 4mm connectors, along with four F500mA HRC fuses. Everything is supplied in a durable protective carry case, making transportation and storage simple between jobs.

Engineered for reliable performance in industrial and electrical substation environments, the TPT9000 works well at altitudes up to 2000m above sea level and within operating temperatures from 0C to 45C, with storage temperatures ranging between -20C and 60C. It is rated IP20 in use. A single PP3 9V battery powers the unit, with built-in monitoring to prevent testing when battery voltage falls below acceptable levels. Clear LED indicators provide instant forward/reverse polarity indication, as well as error and low-battery status.

Please note: The tester can induce strong magnetic fields in transformers; it should not be operated by, or in the vicinity of, persons fitted with cardiac pacemakers or other electronic medical implants.
